Subject: How do you make rain in blender?

 I have not seen  many tutorials that demonstrate how to make realistic looking rain. I've seen plenty of videos showing off rain simulations. I know it involves particles and yet I can't seem to get the configuration right in order to get the effect I'm looking for.
