Subject: P8 SR3 library - small glitch but enough to be annoying :)

I have been using yarp's P3dO Explorer for Poser and the included python script instead of the P8 library but recently decided to try out the new SR3 option of viewing the library as in P7.

However, I can't seem to be able to expand the tree view.  When  mousing over the division between tree-view and folders the cursor turns to the one shown in the red circle but clicking and dragging as in most other programs has no results here.   Am I doing something wrong?

I'd like to be able to expand the tree view as over the years the stuff I have accumulated has found its way into subfolders of subfolders and it would be helpful to instantly see the whole name instead of the tiny little display of the path when you hover over a folder. Not to mention the fact that not even the refresh symbol can be accesed next to the selected folder now (as you can see only a small crescent shows).

Besides, since the cursor does change on this particular area one would assume it's because the tree view should be able to be expanded in width, right?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

If you deselect "show folder thumbnails" under "Tree", does it get any better?

also deselect "show folder counts" under "General"

I cant reproduce your problem with my library as all is perfectly visible but if you uncheck those two it will be more room on each line.

P.s. I also get that litle arrow in my library but cant use it to change the width, however there is no need to for me as ive got plenty of room even when i cange my library to look like yours, must be some other setting that i cant find at the moment.

It's not just you, or your version of Poser.  PPro 2010 has the same bug.

Well, nice to know it's not just me or that I can't seem to find a way to configure it, maybe I'll file a report with SM although I find it highly unlikely there will be any more SRs for P8.

Thanks jonnybode, the fact remains that the tree panel is not re-sizeable but at least both of your  tips helped minimize the problem, at least now I have access to the refresh icon again.

Still, would be interesting to see if it works for anyone.

I have no problem with re-sizing the tree panel in both Poser 8 and PoserPro 2010. It works exactly as expected.

That bug affects certain Windows setups.  The cause is still unknown.  Do you have some sort of animated desktop app running in the background?

Woohoo Shawn, that's it!  Your post made me curious so I went to system properties and changed for best performance and saw it worked!

Afterwards, I played around until I found exactly what was causing it, pretty simple to reconfigure but I thought I'd include a little visual aid for any others who might be having the same problems.

Note:  I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3, not sure how this can be configured on a different system.

So, in a nutshell, go to your computer's system properties and in the Advanced tab under "Performance" click on the settings.   Normally XP has everything selected. I just unchecked the first since I saw it was an animation as Shawn pointed out and now I can resize the tree in the P8 library :)

I don't say it often enough but I'm thankful for this community,  In over ten years that I've been here I've never had a problem that wasn't solved (not to mention the plethora of other useful information) by the members here and for that I thank you all!

Those are some very cool props on your first post Kalypso, may I ask where to find them?

Hi Hioushi,

All the props are by toshiyo but they're quite old.   The samurai items were part of a larger package for V3 that was available quite some time ago, maybe even more than 5 years ago.  And the statues were also part of another package that was here in the marketplace but doesn't seem to be available any more.

In any case, it might not hurt to contact toshiyo directly.  His site is http://poser-ism.vis.ne.jp/

Hope this helps

After you change the setting, you need to restart Poser in order to be able to move the library divider.
