Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
I knew I had seen a way to do this somewhere, but I couldn't find where. I don't know if settings are still stored in a file called Poser*.ini in Poser 8 any more, I just searched for such on my entire hard drive and didn't find it. Lemme poke around a bit more or maybe someone has a better answer.
For Poser 7 it's under:
C:Documents and Settings(USERNAME)Application DataPoser 7
edit: ah there it is Application DataPoser8.0
Are you using SreeD instead of OpenGL? I've only ever seen that line being in the way when I'm using SreeD.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I get the line in both sreed and open GL.

(using Poser Pro 2014 SR3, on 64 bit Win 7, poser units are inches.)
BTW, for those of us with Vista, you might find it under users/(user)/Appdata/Roming/

You're right. The red lines turn up no matter what preview is used.
the thing is, it's VERY easy to get rid of, also without altering files - just move the cursor OUT of the main window - move it to the camera trackball for instance, and the red line is gone. BUT the head (or whatever body part) is still selected and can be morphed with the dials.

Yeah, I noticed that too. However that's still something else to remember and people like me are lazy. :p
Edit the file and you don't have to remember things anymore unless you need to reinstall.

Thanks everyone. :)
I've changed my settings to show hidden files and folders, but when I try to open the "Documents and Settings" folder it won't let me. I keep getting an "Access Denied" message. I've tried Googling for a way to fix this but can't find a proper solution. (I'm using Windows 7)
I also did a search of my computer for "Poser.ini" and no results come up...like it doesn't exist.
I'd really like to just change the file and be done with it, but if I can't figure out a way to get into that folder and find the file, I'll try Trekkie's method.

Yeah, mine didn't come up on a windows search either so I ended up having to go hunt for it manually. I don't think there's been a documents and settings since vista came out, just the /Users file.
Check the third help option on the MS site for a little more info.

Quote - Hi!
This is a tip i copied from the forum years ago, its for Poser 7
quote/
In the Poser.ini file, change the line
HILITE_BODY_PART 1
to
HILITE_BODY_PART 0
/end quotePoser.ini resides under "document and settings", i think its a hidden file so you may want to enable show hidden files first
Thanks for the tip. I wondered about this too.....
I have noticed there appears to be a bug (in Poser 7, at least) where the red outline doesn't go away when the cursor is outside of the preview window. I'm gonna use the above fix so that I don't run into it, because the only other fix I'd found for it was to restart Poser.. :>
Currently using Poser Pro 2012 (Display Units = feet)
AMD Phenom II 3.2ghz (6 cores)
8gb RAM
Windows 10 Pro 64bit

I'm trying to work with the expression morphs on M4 and these red lines are really distracting, and it's difficult to see what I'm doing. Is there any way to get rid of them? I'm using Poser 7.
