Oscar Gustave Rejlander is accredited for being the first to combine two prints in 1853 after it was suggested by Hppolyte Bayard in 1850 to create a well exposed image of a building with a balanced sky. Spirit (ghost) photography which started shortly thereafter owes its origins to combined prints (negatives).
“Controversy broke out in the photographic community about the use of combination printing in the mid-1800s. Photographs originally had been regarded as truth and that the camera never lied. However, with the ability to manipulate the final product, it shattered the notion that photographs depicted "truth."”
About 15 years ago, before the advent of digital photography I use to develope my own B&W film and had great fun doing "trick" photography. Photoshop sure does make it a lot easier. To clear out the clutter I just recently gave away several thousand dollars worth of photographic equipment to one happy young graphic arts student.
Miss Nancy, I think that is a misread it said; “computer-generated images depicting a fictitious minor are constitutionally protected.” Meaning protected under the law as in not being allowed.
“The CPPA defines child pornography as "any visual depiction, including any photography, film, video, picture, or computer or computer-generated image or picture … of sexually explicit conduct, where … such visual depiction is, or appears to be, of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct."”
