Subject: Alice 4.0 CR2

Erinach ( ) posted Thu, 09 September 2010 at 8:30 PM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 5:06 PM

I came across an Alice 4.0 CR2 on a Russian warez site. Is there somewhere I can actually purchase the model?

Regards,

Eirnnach

Nope.  Aery Soul's Alice was usually a one-time deal, with new versions offered annually.  Now that AS has pulled out of the 3D business, there is very little chance that you will see an Alice 5.

They left completely? I thought that they were doing very well?

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Aery Soul is gone? Oh, no! They made excellent products!

I reckon this is one of the reasons they've decided to quit.

If she's available, she will be in the Marketplace here in mid December.  I'd be surprised if they didn't at least offer Version 4 again, as it would be easy money for them.  Alice is an excellent body morph and texture, and in version 4, her face is OK... 😉

If you actually look in the marketplace, many AS items will be pulled from circulation later this year.  I would recommend picking those up before they are gone forever.

And no, warez sites was not the issue with their sudden retirement.  Economic times as led to the demise.

Seaview123 ( ) posted Fri, 10 September 2010 at 11:27 AM

This is really upsetting! Almost all of AS stuff is on my wishlist. I hope things work out for 'em, and they (and their cool products) sure will be missed.

Synpainter ( ) posted Fri, 10 September 2010 at 2:05 PM

Although they have taken a hiatus, there web page is still being used as a communication link to the world.

They will post updates as to their (Aery Soul) "situation" as they feel they can.

You will also find them to be very active on their Deviant Art account page.

I  agree with hborre, the piracy BS is not the driving force behind their decision to stop for the time being, I would not count them as "GONE" yet. They are trying to find the right path for their future endeavors.

I too miss my friends very much, but I am holding hope for their future return ;)

The thing is that piracy is part of the economic times ... But I do hope they come back.

Elfwine ( ) posted Fri, 10 September 2010 at 5:08 PM

while doing a Google search for "3d models medieval houses", I came across a Rapidshare site that had "nearly the complete collection of AS models", as well as other Poser stuff (Bat Labs was one of them). All uploaded by the same person.

Its frustrating to see such blatant thief.

I thought the CR2 was an excellent concept for their model. I'd sure like an opportunity to purchase it. Which really reflects on my laziness.

I wish them the best and hope they return soon.

I suspect that they got tired of being taxed by the US government and then again by the Italian one. It wouldn't leave a lot to put in the bank.

(Note I'm just speculating here.)

It was just my opinion that piracy had something to do with it, if I was wrong then I'm wrong. whatever the real reason for it, it's a shame to see them leaving the Poser business.

I understand that they wanted Alice to be a special and limited-edition item in the 3D world. But offering your flagship product briefly, once a year, doesn't seem to be part of a profitable business model. The domino effect hits their other products, I would guess. The fewer people who are allowed to own Alice, the fewer people who will buy her outfits. I mean, if your deliberate aim is to keep the Alice market small, then you have to live with the consequences of that.

That said, I am very disappointed they are pulling out. Their Alice material, while relatively high priced and almost entirely for faeries and warrior gals, is of extremely high quality.

Hope they're just on a hiatus, and will be back with a new strategy and new stuff... they are the best of the best.

Aery Soul's clothing fits V4, not just the Alice morph.

Dang nabbit.  So I guess me just getting into the 3D world is not a good time.  I was interested in this Alice character, but I see here that she is no more.  :(  I didn't even start in 3D till this year.  Oh well!

If you want to try Vicki 3 there is still Kielo in the Aery Soul store.

if i may say so, the whole poser market has come to an end now that there are so many freebees around,
People doing complete characters for free and everything is to offer on illegal sites.
yeah i understand why they quite. And actually i think it's the vendors own fault for offering 3d stuff for a dime.

I guess, when a vendor wants to make money, he or she needs to be original and that's a big job, as everything has allready been modeled.

I really don't think the freebie offerings pose much of a threat to polished, finished, feature-rich products. You get what you pay for.

OTOH, I do find it tragic that Poser artists are content to use pirated material, though. That is sad... what does it say about an artist? Really?

Yeah I agree, I don't think the freebies had much to do with it.
Usually when a new Aery Soul item is released...BAM...right to the top of the What's Hot list. They seem to have a very large and very loyal fan base.
