It also pays to make sure you have a decent AV,Anti-spyware and to use webmail with a decent spam filter to check your emails.

 Also, never open executable attachments.

And if you think someone might have gained access to your e-mail account (or any account on any website), take the following steps in order:

  1. first check if your backup account is correct (the account where new passwords will be sent to if you choose "i forgot my password")

  2. if your backup account has a backup account too, check if its adress is still correct.

  3. If your backup account has the same password as your hacked account, change the password of your backup account.

  4. Change the password of your hacked account to something other then the password of your backup account.

That way, if someone phished your password, you should have them locked out again.

Also, watch out with password re-use. I would suggest to use unique passwords, at least for your most important accounts (such as online banking). You wouldnt want a phished hotmail password to supply instant access to your bank account or such.

Run a decent virus-scanner, turn HTML off in your mail program and avoid webmail as much as possible.

As for save password usage, use keepass. http://keepass.info/
Its a very secure version to make very safe passwords.

Nothing wrong with webmail provided you use common sense.

Thanx 4 the heads up.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again
