Hi! im fairly new to 3d modeling,i was trying a demo of poser a while ago, after that i was hooked. Now i have poser 7,hexagon and carrara 6 pro. i like to create scenes and render them into still pictures. animation is not really my thing, though i have tried a bit. the programmes i,m using work really well together. what i would really like to do is free hand painting on my objects, models, etc. i feel i can,t complete my work without this. I have read about painting in carrara but it looks really complicated. can any one tell me of other methods to do this. can i export my scene and props into another programme then paint them, then import them back to carrara with the paint effects. any help on this would be great.

Carrara paint is really simple, not much tools to paint anyway.
You can export your objects to OBJ and paint in softwares like 3DCoat, Blacksmith3D and other high end (value) like ZBrush and Cinema4D.

Hi Gary, we can work with you on a simple tutorial, say making a cylinder, placing words, textures, decals, and paint on it using only Carrara.  With that knowledge, you can make neat space ships, furniture etc.  We can get you up and running in a day or two.

We just need a screen shot of your vertex model room since I don't have Carrara 6 (I have Carrara 5 and 8 and need to see which one to use for the tut.  Jan
