Is there any alternative utility to P3DO explorer out there for converting rsr to png thumbs? P3DO works fine for most things but I've found a few directories that it just won't do it for. It finds a number of files but tells me none were converted.
Anyone know of anything or some other way of doing it? Needs to be for Windows, not MAC.

There are some standalone convertors, check the FreeStuff and search the forum (way back).

If you don't have an older version of Poser that will do the conversion, then you'll need to use one of those (or see if submitting a bug report to the P3DOExplorer people get you somewhere).

There are some RSRs that are really troublesome to convert because of obscure alpha channel problems.

Ok. Found Dizzi's free converter and tried that. Nothing seemed to happen so I rechecked inside the folders I was working on. P3DO was telling me it was finding files and converting none because the folders contained both rsrs and pngs. The thumbs are showing up just fine in Poser.
I am now going to kick my own backside for half an hour before I go to bed.
Thanks for the advice but I guess there's no help for stupidity. :blushing:

In P3dO use the setting to overwrite the rsr files, saves a little bit of space and decreases the number of files in the MFT.

Thanks Jules, as you pointed out I think checking  "Overwrite already existing files" will fix the issue.
Rsr2Png default configuration is set to avoid doing mistakes, so when the target file already exists it is generally not necessary to override it. And safer too.
RSR can be different pictures from the PNG you use, what if you override them ? So you have to tell RSR2Png: "I know what I am doing, overrwrite already existing files".

I've refreshed the Rsr2Png UI recently  (Rsr2Png 2.3.4), and it is now easier for me to add new features. I think a list of files like in Pattern renamer, and with a comment explaining why a files is not converted,  would be a great improvement. Coming next.

nruddock, yes there are some RSR which Rsr2Png and P3dO can't read. I know this. I should have fixed it for long but I thought the RSR format was dead so it was not worth spending time on this. Ok, I will fix this too.

About the alpha channel issue. There's a trick. You must use PNG to PNG conversion and set "Fix blank alpha channel". This option is erasing the alpha channel this is the reason why it is onyl available in PNG to PNG mode. It will only erase channels for pictures which transparent alpha, but again for safety reasons I prefer you ask for it rather than being automatic.
