Subject: How to GENERATE a UV MAP....

...from an object that apparently doesn't have one.

There is a a catch though...
I HAVE loaded the model in question into UVMapper and nada. No wireframe, nada.

UV Mapper tells me Vertices=8730, Textures=6, Normals=0, Facets=8512, Groups=6, Materials=3, Regions=0.

This explains why all my efforts to add a decal (I love Decal Master!) to a pair of boots wouldn't take.

So how can I GENERATE a UVMap for this particular item?

in UVmapper just create one. start off by "Select all" then assign a mapping. any mapping. press =, and then you'll see the model in the mapping space.

you can then create a mapping from there. basically right now it sounds like it has no mapping at all, and the above will give you a starting point to work from.

if the OBJ only uses material zones but did not have UVmaps made for it..Uvmapper wont show a UVmap.. because there was non made/save to the obj.

you Cant Generate a UVmap from a OBJ with UV data ..but you can make one..
That is the same way all Uvmaps are made from scratch for any OBJ.

But remember that the OBJ you export ïncl uvmap data" is not compatible with other OBJ with otu the data.. and they all should be replaced with the one you made ..

find the onj file in runtimegeometries......  and rename it as something else
for example mything.obj rename as mything.bak

the load the mything.bak into uvmapper and try  box mapping or cylinder cap mapping and see what gives you the nicest map to work with. Then save the obj as mything.obj

That will mean your original cr2 will use the uv mapped obj

It'd worth checking the tutorials list liked from the header of the UV Mapper forum.
