Generally they do - although if it's a product name, it isn't always very descriptive as to what it is. But I've had several which only say something like "my store on sale" - excuse me? Whose sale? If the vendors knew how these notifications appeared to members, I'm sure they'd want to put more information in them.
(Ooh - the message edit box has changed. Seems better... Opera's spell checker works properly again.)

I just got five new event notifications. Of course the subject heading just tells you it's some event at Renderosity. But in four of the five notifications I couldn't even tell who was putting their store on sale (the fifth mentioned a couple products I recognized and had a URL to the store). I click to see the event and I can only probably guess who it is, if they put their name down or something.
So potentially I click to open the email, click to go to the event, and finally click to go to the vendor's store to figure out what's going on... Not something I'm going to be inclined to try for every single notification
I wonder if the interface for entering events is lacking a good sample of a helpful event description?
But ideally the email heading would include the name (the vendor name not the real name!) of the person who made the event.
It's not the tool used, it's the tool using it
