Subject: uisng avi as background and ground plane

Is it possible to run an avi in Poser as a ground plane and also one as background (though different) at the same time?

If so, how would I do that?

Are you asking how to use the Movie node in general or are you asking how to use two different Movie nodes simultaneously in the same shader or how to use two Movie nodes in two separate materials? Because if you know how to use a Movie node, then use one in the Background material and the other in the Ground material.

Hi bill, Yes I guess using 2 simultaneously would be correct. I understand how to do them as backdrops..but not quite sure how to place another on the ground plane.

An example would be clouds moving accross the shy backdrop, while water or whatever flowing on the ground plane.

Any syggestions? Or would that even work?

By the way that node thing always gets me confused..lol

And why don't use only one avi as background including the clouds and water ?

To put a movie or image on the ground (or anything for that matter) you go into the material for that and add a Movie node for movies or an Image_Map node for images.

How you connect it depends on whether you want it lit by lights or self lit.

If lit by lights, simply connect it to Diffuse_Color. Then you also have to think about specularity. If it should not by shiny, set Specular_Value = 0. If it is supposed to be shiny then set Specular_Value to how bright, and Highlight_Size to how big - these control highlights.

If self-lit, then set Diffuse_Value = 0, Specular_Value = 0, and connect the Movie or Image_Map to either

  • Alternate_Diffuse, set to white

  • Ambient_Color, set to white, then use Ambient_Value to control the brightness.

hi Adh..I want to use a ground avi to create the illusion of water flowing under the characters feet..like would happen when someone approaches a bathroom where the sink was left running and flowing out into the hallway :)
