Subject: Stop annoying render ping

Mari-Anne ( ) posted Tue, 09 November 2010 at 2:06 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 11:46 PM

Is there any way to stop the ping sound you get when a Vue render is completed other than turning the sound down?  For example, if you are following along a tutorial, obviously you don't want to have to turn the sound on and off all the time.  I have looked hi and lo but cannot find this addressed anywhere.  At the moment I am using Vue 9 Infinite but I know I tried to find a way in earlier versions too, without any luck.

I just did it...but through the back door.

I went to my Sound Properties...and on the "Sounds" tab..at the bottom...I scrolled down to "Default Beep"...and in the drop menu...I just selected (None).

VUE just "calls" that sound from Windows evidently, so if you turn it off...you get no "Ding"

Only problem is...that it is now turned off for the whole system...which really doesn't bother me...thats an annoying sound anytime.

you could also change that sound to another more subtle or pleasing sound if you wanted to.

I find the "ping" really useful for telling me my render is finished while I'm away from the computer doing something else...

Wouldn't be without it personally..:-)

Yeah...it can get annoying while doing lotsa test renders and as mentioned...during a tutorial....I just change it to antother sound that is less annoying...

Heh Heh... you could make it something really crazy too lke a sound from a video game or other such nonsense.

Besides...you can always turn it back on for alerting you when your long render finishes.
