Subject: Must you pay full price for Vue 9 Infinite if you have Vue 6 Infinite?

Does anyone know if you have to pay the full price for Vue 9 Infinite if you have Vue 6 Infinite? A few days ago you could upgrade to 8 if you had Vue 6 but now its no longer on their list.

If it's not on the list anymore than I guess you missed the sale. There was indeed an offer if I remember right, it was for a month only.

Pretty sure that that's what you'll have to do.

All you can do is ask them, but Eon have followed the same pattern for several years, they have a sale on the current version which is your last chance to get upgrade pricing on what will be 3 versions behind.
With careful timing, you can buy in the period before release that entitles you to a free upgrade via the complementry 30 day maintenance.

Blah.  Yup you folks are right. I got a reply from e-on that there is no upgrapde path for Vue 6 to Vue 9. Only way for me to get it now is to pay full price. I thought about gettin Vue 8 from some place but by the time I would buy Vue 8 then upgrade it would still cost about the same as buying a new one.  The only upside is that I won't have to have the prior discs to instal the upgrade if I buy the full version.

What money hungry jerks.  Wait a few more versions and you'll have saved  more money then if you had got the recent upgrade price.

Money Money Money, something a bit of a demand these days if you try to keep your software up to date.  The thing is most folks working in digital art have several products to keep up to date so sometimes they have to wait a bit before they can pay the upgrade for something on their list.

So it's a bit frustrating to know you could have bought the upgrade at a reduced price but just didn't have the money during the 30 days they offered it before pulling the plug. Kind of like pressured sales.  Oh well, but sometimes something has to give when your faced with updates for other things like Adobe CS5 Production Suite and Cinema 4D release 11, etc.  It's all just too much to upgrade at once for of use more limited means people.

I don't know your exact needs for Vue but if you can manage with Vue complete they have a very nice offer at the moment.

Sidegrade from Vue6 infinite to Vue9 complete for $99

I think it's the last chance to do something with Vue6 (upgrade-wise I mean)

I'm considering it. Just have to do some reasearch what I'll be missing from Vue6 infinite

omg! this was my first post! didn't realize that I've never posted before on this forum!

Hello holgster,

The difference between vue complete and infinite is shown at this link:

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_9_complete/index.php?page=15&BaseProduct=Vue 9 Complete

In many areas they are the same but also in many areas they are not.

additional question.

If I upgrade to Vue9 complete will I still be able to also use Vue6 infinite?

Every Vue upgrade so far has allowed me to use the previous version. This is fortunate, since there has been some consistency in the malfunctions of the latest, greatest builds. Scenes made with a previous version of Vue often won’t translate to the newer version when there are complicated ecosytems and lots of objects.

I can’t justify spending $400  for something I won’t be using much. My use of the last upgrade cost me about $40 per render. I have yet to see a version of Vue that doesn't crash randomnly, so I've learned not to hope that the latest version will solve my functionality issues (which have followed me through several computer systems.)

By the time I might want to upgrade xstream, it will probably cost as much as a high-end CG animation suite. The pricing is almost there already; Pretty ambitious for a glitchy plug-in, but I guess enough people are paying.
