Subject: Help, I got a dalmation car on my hands!

Hi, okay I made a texture (a new cop texture because I couldn't afford the texture add-on for the Veepster). It's a cop texture, and it had 2 small black stripes on each side, with the word Police written in blue, also on both sides. The preview showed great, so I know it's not the texture itself. But when I rendered it it suddenly looked more like a dalmation than a cop car. So please help me!

Btw... the background was black, no back drops or other props other than the lights on top of the car. And it was set to raytrace, so maybe that's it. Thanks!

You just need to work with the lights :)

Would you be willing to show us a screenshot of your ADVanced tab material room with the values all showing (not the previews, necessarily)...

ETA: oh and yes, your light settings, as well...

Change to the original texture but keep everything else the same. Do you still see the spots?

ShaaraMuse3D ( ) posted Sun, 05 December 2010 at 4:56 AM

Either I need glasses or didn't have enough tea this morning...  Didn't even notice the spots until just now lol..

Yeah its more than light settings for sure! Sorry.

It's a min bias problem. Which one is unclear.

Could be on the Reflect node.

Could be on the light shadow.

Hi bagginsbill, i thought it might be something like that but I'm not sure how to find that out. Could you inform me please? thanks

Whoops - sorry I forgot about this thread.

To test if it's a shadow problem, disable shadows and render. If they go away it's a shadow problem.

If it's a problem with reflection (assuming you are using reflection) then disable raytracing or disconnect the reflect node and see what happens.

If they go away, then you would need to adjust the bias in the Reflect node.
