Subject: Poser Pro 2010 library for Poser 8?

Michaelab ( ) posted Wed, 22 December 2010 at 5:48 PM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 8:00 AM

I read in an earlier post that Poser Pro 2010 library was going to be offered for Poser 8. Is there any update with that?

Sr3 for 8 makes them the same.

Oh, I have SR3 installed. Don't see what's so great about it. It still is a small window to see anythinng. Or am I missing something?

Click on the Klingon toothpick below on the Library window to open up additional options.

Had already done that hborre (Superman!) but I guess what I'm wanting is a larger viewing area, like another window so I can see more than a few tiny little images (yes, I know you can increase the size but then one image hogs the whole space). I am looking to see more, maybe like a windows explorer experience that I can then click on and load the figure with.

You can use windows explorer to load content. Drag and drop onto the preview area.

Also in Pro 2010, you can go to the general preferences and chose to run the library in an external window. Then you can make it full screen, and minimized when you don't need it. There's a button in the upper right of the main window that brings the library back up whenever you want it. This is not an option in Poser 8.

In Poser 8 you can float the window instead of docking it, but it's not so easy to minimize it.

Thanks bagginsbill. I'll give the windows explorer option a try, but where it the option to have the library panel float? Can't find it. I see it red leader.

Michaelab ( ) posted Wed, 22 December 2010 at 6:21 PM

I mean I CAN't see it red-leader.

Michaelab ( ) posted Wed, 22 December 2010 at 6:27 PM

tried dragging and dropping but doesn't seem to work for poses, does it?

Michaelab ( ) posted Wed, 22 December 2010 at 6:43 PM

It works if you drag right ontop of the character and not the clothing. Interesting results if you do that.  However, still not finding how to undock the Library panel in Poser 8. Any help out there?

In the upper right corner of every panel in Poser, there is a tiny square. Click that. Or right click - can't remember which. Anyway, a menu will appear. Click floating.

You probably also want to disable drag-dock. When you drag a floating window and that option is enabled, it will attempt to dock again and no longer be floating.

Regardless of that setting, if you grab a panel window with the ctrl key held down (maybe Cmd on Mac - can't remember) it will not dock even if drag-dock is enabled. It will stay floating wherever you put it.

that did it, thank you. So tiny and so faded I could barely see it.

vilters ( ) posted Wed, 22 December 2010 at 8:00 PM

It is right click on the little square in the upper right corner.
Right click and select your options.
Very adaptable and user friendly.

Just, as mentioned, when using drag and drop, pay attention to where you drop it :-)

Another suggestion: Use the memory dots.

You can arrange the panels in different ways and save those layouts in the memory dots. Then you can recall them with one click.

I have layouts that give max space to the library and others where it is small and parameters are small, and others where library is hidden and parameters are big, one where there are no parameters  or library and the preview window is huge, etc.
