Lots of websites are running slow this week, probably overloaded with Xmas shopping.

With the holiday it might be difficult to get a hold of someone until Monday.  Hope it works out but you may have to be patient.  (I know, easier said than done.  I hate having to be patient)

Worked for me just after midnight. Unfortunately, the product I purchased - Talk Designer Assistant for Poser 7 - does not. At least for Michael 4, it does not work. It does not appear to be saving the viseme files in the proper manner and/or format and, consequently, they do not work. So, I can kiss another $20 goodbye in my attempt to get Poser to what it should do. Anyway, I am rambling again, back to the subject at hand, the Smith-Micro site appeared to be working just fine or, at least, with no more than the usual bugs and foibles.

Take care, be well, keep flying.

A mac specialist said to me recently do not forget with Poser you are at the cutting edge of tech, so I suppose we can apply that to all the items we use, its still frustrating though when software will-not work.

Lets hope when they update Poser they get it correct.

@casamerica , do you have the proper definition file for M4 ?

casamerica ( ) posted Sat, 25 December 2010 at 5:43 PM

@markschum,

These are the verbatim instructions for Talk Designer Assistant for Poser 7:

  • Load character with morphs to scene
  • run Scripts -> Anakele Vision and Design -> Talk Designer Assistant script
  • Select the appriate morph for the corresponding sound.  There will be 12 phonemes to set up.
  • Viseme Map will be saved to Runtime:Lipsync Folder
  • start Talk Designer and enjoy!

I performed the steps above exactly as instructed... well, except for the "start Talk Designer and enjoy!" step. Can't enjoy what does not work.

TDA for Poser 7 failed to create a useable viseme map for my character which is a Michael 4-based character. If there are ANY other factors that come into play in using this program, then it should have been clearly stated in the readme. It was not.

A viseme map I adapted for V4 works just fine. I guess I will have to do the same for M4 now. I simply wanted a program that would cut the time factor everytime I wanted to use a character not supported by Poser's Talk Designer. I thought TAD was that program. I was wrong.

As an aside, I wish Content Paradise had a system similar to the Renderosity store where buyers could comment and rate their purchases. It might have saved me $19.95. I will remember that the next time I am trying to decide between a prop or character purchase between Renderosity and CP.

Take care, be well, keep flying.

My Additional Companion this year has made a twelve minute film showing in the finest Museum in India for a audience of thousands The Museum is run by a charitable trust .

It  save's the charitable trust a lot of $$$$$$.

no offense, but Poser may have been cutting edge tech back in 1996

casamerica, (and anyone familiar with TD and TDA)

I was just about to post a question regarding Talk Designer Assistant and I spotted your post here.

I'm working on an animation story based on a kid's birthday party, so I have several kids I need to lipsynch. Problem is, Talk Designer is only compatible with Ben and Katie, and many of the kids I'm using are Daz "The Kids 4" figures.

I thought Talk Designer Assistant might be the solution, but it seems some who have purchased it are not satisfied with it. I don't even know if it's compatible with The Kids 4 figures or not, there's nothing in the documentation listing specifically which figures it works on.

Do you, or does anyone have a few minutes to post an alternative way to get The Kids 4 figures talking w/lipsynch?  I know the basics of using Talk Designer, but I am a fairly new PoserPro2010 user, so if someone wouldn't mind posting a step by step work around (+ screengrabs/visuals if possible), it would be immensely helpful and appreciated.

Thank you

MM
