hi guys, I am experiencing a problem when loading my Poser 6 files.

  1. everything works normally except that I cannot load a few of my saved files.

  2. when trying to load these files, Poser 6 works for several seconds, but after that nothing showed on the screen except the tool bar: there is no figure, no prop, not even the very blank screen where you can work on.

  3. when this happens, no function from the drop-down menu, for example to configure the figure or prop, is available, except for the "open/create new" options.

  4. also when this happens, I cannot move any camera, nor can I zome in or out from the screen, because there is no screen there.

  5. although obviously I cannot do anything when this happens, when I tried to close Poser 6 or to open a new file, the program asks me to choose to "save" the changes to the existing file or to "cancle". this option also pops up when I choose to open other saved files.

  6. I tried other saved files, most worked normally, but a few showed the same problem, althoug I did not see any similarity between these failed files.

what is the problem? anyone else ever experienced the same thing with Poser 6?

could it be that Poser 6 is not able to run some of the newest 3d products?

but they loaded from the Poser Libarary nicely, and I can work on them normally until I save the file and try to reload the entire screen.

some helps please!

thank you very much!

Do you have "Use External Binary Morph Targets" enabled, in Edit -> General Preferences?  If so, turn it off, close/re-open Poser, and try again.

My first thought as pjz99 describes.  Try that first.

sorry, It did not seem to work.

I tried turn it off and it still has the same problem when loading.

and I also tried turn the "use file compression" on option, not working either.

does it mean that all the saved files with the "use external binary morph targets" option on cannot be saved, and all I can do is to start a new screen and save it with this option off to get it work?

Please kindly offer some helps!

thank you very much!

If you have saved with external binary morhs , look for the scene file and morphs file and rename the morphs slightly. Then load the scene in Poser. Poser will fail to find the morphs , but the wscene should load, and you can load the morphs manually.

It may take a while to load because poser will search a lot for the file.

now I tried to load a saved file with nothing but one prop.

poser loaded it with now a blank screen, nothing on it.

but this time, under "Preview" I have the name of this prop, and I can select it, although nothing showed on the screen.

camera control still disabled.

what I can do is to "render" it first, and then go back to the "preview", and the prop is there.

any help for you guys to figure out what is wrong with it?

many thx for any help.

I am going to try rebuilding the screen and save it without that option see whether it works or not.

thank you very much for all the advices guys.

have a nice holiday!

Have you moved or renamed any directories around inside the Poser application directory?  It may be that you've moved the RuntimeGeometries folder, that might cause this kind of behavior.

no. I did not move any directories in the poser folder.

but I did finishing rebuilding part of the screen and saved it without that binary morph target option on.

and it works!

so thank you very much for the advice.

have a nice holiday!
