Maybe it is me, but Miki 3 looks to be shiny.  I just down loaded Mike 3 and wanted to see the difference between her and 2, so I opened them both for a side by side comparison.  And in the preview 3 is defiantly shiner then 2, but when rendered the shininess goes away.  Does anyone else see a shiny Mike 3?

This is because she is new, they're all very shiny when they're new.

Against shinyness in preview mode, try enabling opengl hardware shaders.

Try the VSS Skin Shader PR3. does wonders for my Miki when rendered out.

Yep, OpenGl corrects it.  BTW, the original skin shaders for Miki3 is one of three developed by Bagginsbill, the creator of VSSPR3.  Although application of VSS will enhance the textures further, in most cases it is unnecessary.  Link below shows my recent render with her w/o VSS.

The Miki 3 texture set includes specular maps, which I used to modulate (control) the amount of specularity. (shine) This enhances the realism and avoids the plastic look.

But Poser's basic preview does not use the full shader tree. In particular the preview version of specular effects does not implement the Fresnel effect (shine changes with viewing angle) while the actual shader does. (By using a Blinn node) And the preview does not pay attention to the specular map, so the specular value is full blast instead of how it really works in the shader.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Also for those who are using the Sreed mode in the preview window, the shine is way overdone in preview.
In Open GL it is a lot better.
But as BB says, the renderer takes care of that.
On my 2 netbooks, that have to use Sreed, it is like looking in a mirror after a shower, with a Flashlight on her, LOL.
II thought she was having a hot waxing :-)

Or ready for some Asian oily dance :-)
Sorry :-)
