Subject: (Sort of OT) Is there something wrong with Renderosity?

pzrite ( ) posted Tue, 01 February 2011 at 2:24 PM · edited Mon, 06 January 2025 at 8:25 AM

Is it just me or is the entire Renderosity site extremely, painfully slow in loading pages. All of the other websites I visit are fine, but for the last few days it takes about 30 seconds to a full minute to load every new page.  I was trying to find a couple of products in the Marketplace but just gave up after trying to load a few pages....the paint was starting to peel.

Anyone else getting this?

I have problems off and on. What system and browser are you using? Does it do it on more than one browser? :)

It is slow sometimes.  But I think it depends on the amount of traffic.

I'm using Firefox (the latest version).  I tried clearing all the normal junk out (cache, history, etc) but Renderosity still continues to load amazingly slow... like one picture element at a time slow!

Not slow here in Rotherham, UK.  Using Opera 11.01 on XP.

Occasionally the pages will load slow for me or I get a "too many users" popup. Using IE 8 too lazy to install other browsers right now.

There might be lines affected by the massive snows across the midwest.

R_Hatch ( ) posted Tue, 01 February 2011 at 11:47 PM

Senator Ted Stevens has announced that some of the internet tubes are full of snow, and until the snow is cleared, the internet will be slow. It may take awhile, as there are only a few snowmobiles small enough to fit inside of the tubes.

Also, none of that is true :P

Yeah you can't have snow in yer tubes, that keeps the Eye Pee Packages from squeezin through.

No problems in Ireland. Well none except for the economic downturn and being in the pocket of the IMF.

But Renderosity loads fine. ;)

SteveJax ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2011 at 6:10 PM

Well last night my local internet went down for 8 hours because the cold and wind knocked out the powerline to the node. So I still say it's probably weather related and causing some extra rerouting of traffic.

Fine with IE here, perhaps a throughput issue somewhere...

Well since I first posted, the forums seem to have gone back to normal loading time, but the Marketplace is still slower than normal...but not as slow as it was a few days ago.  It still takes awhile for each item to load it's thumbnail pix.  Going from page to page or searching for something is an excercise in patience!

I've found running rendo on chrome to be much faster, personally.

I run it with a dogsled ...very fast

Forgot to ask you, are you coming up with any error messages? :)

No error messages at all, it's just like trying to download a web page using an old 14.4k modem.  But since yesterday eveything now seems back to normal, including the marketplace.  All the graphics load almost instantly (as they should) as opposed to one graphic element, slowly, at a time.

One thing that I forgot to try (which I will the next time this happens) is to do a "ping test" and see if I can figure out where it's getting slowed down.
