Subject: Vue 8

Hi, I recently purchased the 3D World magazine with Vue 8 included. When I was installing it, it warned me that I was missing some drivers and that certain functions would be unavailable such as shaders. Does anyone know if I am missing the EcoSystem because of the drivers or if this so called "Full Product" does not include the EcoSystem.

Thanks,

Angela

You need at least an ATI 512MB AGP video card with Shader 3.0 features.  You will still get the "warning" message at first run, but Vue will still work fine.

I used the program from the magazine for about 5 minutes.  I did not look to see if eco-systems was present in that version.  I assumed so since the tutorial uses them.

I think ecosystems are present, but you can only sue the preset ones, can't make your own. Now about the Shader 4 model,  it depends on your graphic card. Maybe it's too old, or maybe you need to update your drivers.

Thanks, for the help.

I've just updated my driver and still no ecosystem. Must be I will have to pay to upgrade it. Well there is ecosystem stuff but it is "not locked to my license" and it populates with dummy stuff which doesn't render.

But in your material collections, do you have an Ecosystem folder? If so, apply it to a terrain and populate. I'm pretty sure you have ecosystems, even the free Pioneer has.

Ecosystems have nothing to do with your graphic card. Only the way they are displayed in OpenGL.

Oh that's right.  I remember now.  That version of Vue will only import objects that are locked to your license.  I couldn't use any of my bought content because none of it is locked.  Buying the Importer fixes this if you want to stay with that version.
