Subject: Poser 8 Continuous crashes.

pruiz ( ) posted Tue, 15 March 2011 at 8:24 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 5:49 PM

I have poser 8 running on Windows 7 - all was fine until a couple of days ago when I now get Poser 'hanging" and only way out is to abend/close the app. It is continously happening at the end of a render. I have tried re-installing Poser app but to no avail.

Any ideas solutions anyone?

First thing to look at is what changed a couple days ago?

Can you render an empty scene?

Hm .... one thing i regularly came across that it helps when you switch Poser from OpenGL to Software Shading or visa versa.

Have you tried that? You can do so by clicking on an empty space in your scene (right click)...

I tried changing from Open GL to Sofware Shading and it rendered once but next render hung again:

I thought it might be corrupted preferences so I deleted them. Worked fine fo a couple of renders then started to hang again. Only way out of hang seems to be end app.

I have re-installed Poser 8 and now anything I do crashes the app. Should i uninstall and then reinstall? I am completely baffled.

reading your error there, I'd recommend running System File Checker - SFC

  1. Click Start  and then type cmd in the Start Search Box.
  2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue

  1. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow

Uninstall. Run a registry cleaner and reinstall. I recommend ccleaner for the registry and temp files.

And I'll ask again, did you install or uninstall apps, or change any settings to the system about the time it started crashing?
