Subject: How do I make a custom face morph for V4 that I can legally share?

freemarlie ( ) posted Fri, 01 April 2011 at 6:57 PM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 9:43 AM

I know how to create morph targets.  What I want to know is how do I save the morph targets so that I can share/sell it legally like the V4 characters in the marketplace?

the only ones that you can make that would be 100% yours is by using a modeling program or magnets/deformers, faceshop  these you would then save as inj/rem poses...

most of the ones in the market place are made using the daz morph dial spins.. those are saved and shared/sold by making them into pose files...

Are you using a modeller, magnets or dial spins?

If you are using DAZ's Morph packs, they prefer either pz2 or inj/rem for morph distribution.

DAZ sells Injection Pose Builder and Injection Magic in their store.  Thorne has a tutorial over at Faerie Wylde explaining how to create a simple inj/rem pose in a text editor.

If you are using P6 and above, you have the option of saving the morph as a pmd.  Nerd3D has a tutorial on his site telling you how to create and inj/rem pose for pmd's using a text editor.

Many face morphs available at RDNA are in pmd format.  There is a script for DS that will convert pmd's and it is free.

Custom morphs created in a modeller are yours but you cannot simply distribute the obj file.  RTE encoder can be used to encode the file against the base mesh.  If you are planning to use RTE encoder, it's safest for you to check with DAZ and get something in writing giving you permission.  Some will say you don't need to but I always believe in covering my butt.

Dimension3d has an app here that can be used to make inj morphs from .obj based morphs, I use it for my head morphs.

Just curious... what's it called?

Excellent - thank you for the link, Joe. Wondering if some if not all this functionality is already in Poser File Editor... have to have a look at the manual again.
