Subject: Poser Physics Question

New question (may seem a litte stupid). Can anyone please tell me what is Poser physics?

I saw a youtube video with Micheal 4 kicking a ball. When his foot swang towards the ball it moved like real life animation. Is this a plugin that enhances animation? If it is, is it on or availble for Poser 8? Or, is this something you have to have for Poser Pro?

Really have a desire to enhance my animation dynamics in Poser.

This is the link to the youtube demo:

See attached link.

The compatability list doesn't mention P8, so if some on whos got can't or doesn't comfirm one way or the other, you should check with CP support.

According to CP, requirements are just Poser 6, 7, and PoserPro as linked by nruddock.  It is a SmithMicro product, however there is not updated mention at the SM website.  I do remember when it was released years ago, it coincided with P6 prior to the release of P7.  AFAIK, the compatibility with P8 and PP2010 is relatively not documented and whether it works effectively with the newer rigging.

Thank you guys (alot). So, is this plugin a plugin that enhances dynamics for your animated scenes(maybe even over the later Posers)? And is there a simular program in Poser Pro or 8?

I'm sure if it didn't work with more recent versions, they'd have some notice of that on the site.  No news is presumably good news, in that respect.  The only change in rigging (so far) is the addition of the capsule and/or multiple falloff zones, which I wouldn't expect to interfere with any ragdoll effects.  (Mind you, I still haven't loaded Poser Physics to try it.  I'll be a bit tweaked off if it won't work in P8. )

The plugin is a basic physics simulation engine, like ODE.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Dynamics_Engine  This sort of thing is mainly used for realistic animation of physical interactions of objects, with the collisions and bouncing and such.  It can be used for chains or ragdolls, from what I've seen.  It won't do soft bodies or fluid dynamics, or cloth or hair (but we already have the latter two).

Presumably you could use it for stills as well as animation, much as you can run a cloth or hair simulation and use the result for a still render.  Generally, the purpose would be animations.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

http://www.physicalc-software.com/poserphysics/ used to have movies to watch.  The pics show what is happening pretty much.  I have the plugin for Poser 6.  It works great as advertised.
