Subject: mac conversion

Folks: I am planning to buy a Mac G4. I have extensive library of props, characters, textures etc. Will I be able to use my PC generated figures, characters, etc. And will my copy of Poser4 and Pro pack be able to load on the Mac (Assuming one licensed copy each machine etc.) or do I need to get additional copies. What kind of a job is it to convert from one format to the other? aloha, john

Hi Conversion of cr2, pp2 and other library files is quick and painless using MartinC's poserconvertor program (check in the freestuff for it). Texture files such as jpgs, tifs and bmps are usually able to be read by either platform. wander

The Poser install CD has both Windows and Mac versions, so that should work, but if you have licenses for both machines ; no problem then. There is a utility called macinstaller which should be able to copy the libraries over from the PC. The link is not working in the Free Stuff area but can be found at: http://www.soft-rabbit.com/ I hope this helps. Sam

While at Martins' site click the link to CraphicsConverter. It will translate over 100 different image file formats from almost any machine/OS, even old outdated ones. You shouldn't have any trouble translating almost any Poser/Graphics file from one format to the other.

I download all my Poser files on a PC and use them on my Mac with no trouble. That includes a PC-version Zygote/DAZ figure that I accidently selected instead of the Mac version. Of course, I'd be lost without Martin's excellent programs. You're going to love your G4! If you do any serious video editing, check out Final Cut Pro.

I also download on the PC (it has the dsl line), but do art on the Mac. With Martin's programs, you should have no problems converting and installing your files. Carolly

Mahalo everybody that replied. What a supportive community of Mac folks. Yes, I,m getting Final cut too and a camera with the new Titanium G4. It is an awesome package that comes with software and camera too, right from Appfel.
