Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 20 7:20 am)
I don't have all the adobe apps. But the ones I have are all CS4 perhaps somebody could test this against CS5. So far it effects Premier all the time. Bridge sometimes, I havent sorted why it comes and goes. Dreamweaver intermittent too. And Ironically Flash CS4 does not seem to effected and so far Photoshop is not effected. Flash Plugin always in Chrome.
Yeah, I had to dump Chrome as it was causing problems with several apps here. But besides that, I have had Poser crash when deleting something from the scene... Randomly but rarely. I often pop open Firefox and I think sometimes it might be causing problems, sandbox or not.
I know we have library alternatives but I do wish SM would have provided one. I mean I usually don't have a problem but I try to think of more than myself. Others may not be faring as well.
.
There has been an issue with Premier CS4 for a long time but I think this Flash interaction started with an update to Flash player Adobe pushed a few days ago. If it really did start then I imaging the phones at Smith tech support are ringing off the hooks.
Hopefully somebody won't lose thier work by seeing this thread
It's a known issue that conflicting installations of Adobe Flash Player can cause these problems with Poser 8 and PP2010. I know, I went through it for months before anyone came up with a solution. Uninstall Flash and go to Adobe's site and do a fresh reinstall. Many programs install it automatically and this would cause problems.

Does Poser 8 or 2010 freeze up when you delete a figure? Maybe it happens when you add or remove an item in the library? Does the Libray come up blank?
If you are running Google Chrome web browser that may be the problem. If it's open to a page with any flash content (like every page has now-days) it will cause Poser to flip out. This also happens if certain Adobe apps are open with Poser. I know Premier and Adobe Bridge cause this problem there may be others.
So here's the low down if you have an Adobe program open it may interact badly with Poser causing Poser to freeze. This includes web browsers that don't sandbox flash. Firefox and IE appear to isolate Flash so it can't cause this problem. If you close the offending Adobe program Poser will begin responding again. The freeze occurs on Poser's native (gray) dialogs. It won't happen on OS native dialogs like the File Chooser when you save.
This only effects P8 and 2010. It's probably because of the flash based libray. If Poser gets stuck deleting a figure or switching rooms check that you don't have any Adobe running in another window or in the tray (Bridge can hide in the system tray) As far as I know this only effects Windows systems.
