Subject: Text editing animations help.

Xameva ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2011 at 2:04 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 7:47 PM

 Hi there!

I create animations that others use, so I need to make sure all of the morphs are stripped out except for the ones that I use. What I do currently is save a version of the animation without morphs, and then another version with morphs. Then I go in with a text editor and copy only the morphs I need and paste them into my non-morph clean .pz2.

I go through the text lines, highlight the start of the morph I want, and then I have to scroll down, A LOT, because each animation key is like 5 lines of text, and when there's 70+ frames, that's a lot of scrolling. I then get to the end of the morph, and shift click, highlighting the whole block, copying, and pasting in my non-morphed .pz2. I have to manually scroll.. I can't just use the sidebar to quickly move down, because it unhighlights the start of the morph and I can't shift-click at the end. >_<

I'm now working on a 300+ frame animation, and there's no way I can keep using that method.

Is there an easier way? A third part utility maybe?

Any replies would be much appreciated, thank you very much!

Attached Link: Morph Manager at Morphography

Paul Mason's utility "Morph Manager 4" will do it and is still free at EnglishBob's Morphography site  (ir doesn't appear to be here at Rendo anymore).

You are going to love this app.

Edit, Find, search on what you're looking for? Heaven knows I do that enough with actual text, but mileage may vary...

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

This is amazing, thanks. :) I've seen it before but I thought it was only for .cr2 files. WOOHOO!

It will load .pz3's, but I don't really use it that way (kinda confusing if there are a lot of figures in the scene), so, I hope it does work out for you.

I must admit, I didn't really follow your work-flow.  It sounds to me like I would save the full .cr2, open it in MorphManager and copy the desired morphs to an empty figure & save that .cr2.

Then swap the figures in the pz3.   -- rather than swapping them first and trying to do all the morph transfers within the pz3.   --  but I may have simply misunderstood what you were doing.

semi-OT: Does anyone recall if Mason, aka:Mr_X, is still playing with us, or has a current website?

Morph Manager probably is the best tool for the particular job, but I thought it might be worth mentioning some other tools that I find helpful when working with Poser library files.

There are two free Poser library file editors that I know of "CR2 Editor" and "CR2Builder". These are similar to Morph Manager in a lot of ways, but also let you work on other parts of the file besides the morphs. There is also the commercial product "Poser File Editor", I have not used it myself, but people speak highly of it.

Then there is svdl's "SpawnCharacterP6 update" py script. This script is handy if you have a number of different morphs applied to a figure. It consolidates any morphs applied to the figure into one morph for each actor, and creates INJ/REM files for that morph. Quick and simple to use, but only works for figures that have the DAZ style PBMCC channels. Another way to make delta injection files is with "Pozers Little Helper", it is not limited to using PBMCC channels, but has a bit of a learning curve. These apps package and inject deltas, so you should keep in mind copyright restrictions. "Spawn FBM" is handy utility when making custom FBM's.

There are also some utilities that whilst not specific to Poser, are very useful. "FileBox Extender" takes a lot of the hard work out of navigating the Poser Runtime structure. "Code Keeper" is handy for storing snippets of Poser code.

In Windows you can Select the first line of code, then hold down the Shift key, and tap either the Down Arrow to extend the selection one line at a time, or Page Down to extent the selection by one screen length at a time. Use the Left/Right arrow keys to make fine adjustments to the end of your selection (holding down the Shift key all the time).

You're a life saver.  My mousewheel and finger thanks you. I think I'll stick to doing it manually, $26 for that Editor is a bit too much for me.
