Subject: Poser Animation Guru's - I Would really appreciate some help with a Poser animat

I'm a real novice when it comes to animation and I stupidly left the IK controls on when I was creating a few clips in Poser Pro 2010. I had the main camera zoomed in for a particular clip and when I finally zoomed out to check it I found that V4's feet and legs were twisted like reels of cotton. If something like this ever happens with a still pose its easy to remedy by typing in a zero value for the 'Twist' dials and its sorted. But in Poser animation this seems to be a real headache with no obvious easy way to do it. Now....

I know that you can use the graph window to select a joint and pull the wave up or down (personally and I say this in ignorance, that I find this technique bewildering since in a single Poser scene you can type in values and get exact results) I don't want to raise or drop the entire wave up or down because that seems to drag previous values up or down too - I want to set a foot 'Twist' parameter to zero for the whole clip but I can't see how to do this - Can any clever soul put me right please?

Also is there any way to insert new frames into a section of a clip?

Thanks Poser Gurus!

Using IK means the thigh and shin positions have been forced by hip moves, Poser doesn't always make the best choices in these situations. Using IK you could try setting new keyframes for the feet and leg joints, it depends on the length and complexity of the move, weird things happen when hip Y rotation get to 180 or more.

In a similar situation, I've sometimes used a second figure with the same poses without IK as a gude for setting leg and foot poses, I've also admitted defeat and started from scratch ( yes, I've done this more than once)

Re the graphs you can click on individual keys to change their values, what you are looking for are spikes ar big "irrational" switches in values as a guide to where things are wrong, in-out, bed and twist parameters often seem to switch function when a figure is rotated past 180. Thinking through the motion, mentally re-enacting it is a help in working out where you might correct the poses.

You can set limits for individual parameters by clicking the triangle beside the dial and selecting settings from the list, type in  new Min and Max limits, this seems to work without needing to use the Figure/Use Limits which if applied to an animation flatlines the poses but this tends to mess things up as you may lose parts that you do want

see att lnk.;  not exactly frame insertion.  add frames to end, then shift the earlier frames back. YMMV.

With IK off, in the Key Frame Editor, draw a selection box around all the frames for the Twist (yRot) for the lFoot, then hit the Delete key on the keyboard, this will clear all the keys except for frame one. In frame one, set the twist to zero. Repeat the procedure for the other leg parts.

An alternative to the method in my last post, would be to use an animated pose file to set the twist to zero. Attached above is the text of such a pose. The pose only covers 20 frames, so you will have to apply it in frames 1, 20, 40, 60, etc, until the whole animation (or parts that need fixing) is covered. The pose works on Twist (yrot) of the thighs, shins, and feet, but not the toes.

Loose the ".TXT" part of the file extension, and save it to any pose folder.

Hi I have a poser animation method that you might like to try to prevent all that twisty joint thing.

Passion is anger and love combined. So if it looks angry, give it some love!
