Have you ever thought that the price points reflect that the vendors know this is just a hobby for most people and realize that since it IS just a hobby, most of the products for sale here are not done by professionals who need to charge enough that they can use them to make a living off of - plus they know that people are willing to pay only so much for these products. So the vendors have set their prices to accomodate those customers?
As far as selling here and not in other venues goes - some people do that as well, this is a tight knit family of Bryce enthusiasts and a lot of the content is given freely while some content is sold at reasonable prices in the marketplace. We like it like that, so if you think your products are worth more and can command more, please feel free to offer them and good luck!
The truth is that most Rendo members do not buy Bryce products here, but are not adverse to freebies. The other sites with the same products will yield better sales. It's just the way it is. There are some wonderful Brycers here, so don't get me wrong. It's just not a good site for marketing Bryce products, comparatively speaking.
Agree with rstar's assessment...this is an Art Community which implies a high percentage of newbies and hobbists, hence the lower than you'd expect prices.
I'd go to your other marketplaces to sell stuff if you are intent on keeping your pricing the same everywhere as high price stuff will sit on the shelves here.. ...
Once
in a while I look around,
I see
a sound
and
try to write it down
Sometimes
they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again
This is rather interesting.....
The ONLY reason I stopped selling here is because Bryce mats, are SERIOUSLY heavy w/ regards to filesize... For instance, my MMM set for Bryce at Daz, was a godawful experience to upload, and I believe that scares the sh*t out of most from even buying it... They havent even made it available in my OWN acct at Daz for download =/
With a 50MB filesize limit, you might get 4 mats in a pack?!?
Admittedly, I like and use hi-res textures (and if I could would even go to 4096x4096) for my mats, you figure in a separate diffuse, spec, reflection and bump/normal mats, just forgetaboutit............ All youre gonna get in here are proceeds, VERY small.
So to answer your question, for me it's a matter of filesize. However, I think since Daz bought Bryce, it is only natural that Bryce content be sold there, closer to home and easier marketing, better for the creator of the package in question.

Took a look at the "Pro" materials for vers 7 which are floating around the net already. In my opinion they are for the most part useless for anything except scif type stuff. As to lighting and the instancing lab I have plenty of lighting arrays already and I don't even know what the instancing lab is supposed to do as it doesn't work in the vers 7 PLE so you cannot "learn" it. The DTE in vers 7 crashes so often I am scared to use it so no need to buy any of their mats if I can't even use my own safely. Have found an excellent freeware texture program and free textures at www.spiralgraphics.com so am moving in the direction of using more textures though in the over ten years of using the program I have generally avoided them. Doubt seriously if you will ever see another version of Bryce after 7 as Vue seems to be eating their lunch despite the outrageous price. The only reason I continue to use it is experience and in retirement the cost of another type of software is prohibitive. I will continue to buy some meshes; especially those on sale, but not from Daz unless absolutely unavoidable. I even bought some Matcreator stuff!
Just to note, that guy MatCreator makes some real good stuff... You can always check his gallery to see how he utilizes his own products... Just a thought.
=P
Seriously, I was "forced" into a reliance on photo-based textures in Bryce, for some reason, some very, very, odd reason, I was getting glitches and inconsistencies in my proceedural mats, so I stopped making them altogether =( This was in Bryce 4, and the issue has been carried over ever since, on new systems, w/ the new versions... I suppose it evolved a style in me, and that's how I've used Bryce ever since...
Wow, it was back in 2005 =/

Hi, I've made a couple of texture packs for Bryce (not sold at Rendro) and have wondered about selling future packs at Renderosity. Looking at the store here I see some wonderful Bryce products but they are sold at very low prices (and I think they some of them are worth more). I'm assuming Rendro take 50% of any sales, so I was wondering, given the low pricings do any of the Bryce vendors here think it's worth selling here when they could perhaps sell their products at other stores for higher prices? I'm not tyring to knock Rendro or be controversial, just would like some feedback as to why the vendors choose to sell here, to help me decide whether it's worth submitting any products. Perhaps the level of sales are really really good here, or there is some other factor to recommend selling here that I hadn't thought of. Any input would be appreciated.
