I know a lot of the Norwegian broadcasting company's programes is not avaliable outside Norway,  that has something to do with bandwidth. I guess this is the case for the BBC as well.

orbital ( ) posted Sun, 24 July 2011 at 5:51 AM

Never saw Bladerunner.

Free men do not ask permission to bear arms!!

If you get the (?5) DVD boxset from about 3 years ago, it's on one of the DVDs.  I can highly recommend it - it's eye-popping, you'll wonder how Bladerunner ever got made!

My self-build system - Vista 64 on a Kingston 240GB SSD, Asus P5Q Pro MB, Quad 6600 CPU, 8 Gb Geil Black Dragon Ram, CoolerMaster HAF932 full tower chassis, EVGA Geforce GTX 750Ti Superclocked 2 Gb, Coolermaster V8 CPU aircooler, Enermax 600W Modular PSU, 240Gb SSD, 2Tb HDD storage, 28" LCD monitor, and more red LEDs than a grown man really needs.....I built it in 2008 and can't afford a new one, yet.....!

My Software - Poser Pro 2012, Photoshop, Bryce 6 and Borderlands......"Catch a  r--i---d-----e-----!"

The funny thing is, and Dan you need to pop down the video store, is that this looks more futuristic than anything I have seen since, and lets bare in mind this is 25 years old. There's no cgi, and yet I suspect it might be the reason a lot of us are here, directly or in directly.

All credit to Ridley for having the perseverence with it. Which ever version is worth watching - a few times.

Paul, I'd be interested in the special effects on Coronation Street. Minnie Caldwell's half a stout? Tell me more.

Ahhh....my Coronation Street Days were as a Camera Grip, the SFX came a bit later.  All a long time ago now...!

Arguably Rutger Hauers finest bit. With CG I miss those magnificent sets. But there is always Turner Classic Movies for us old ones who miss better days. A bit campy perhaps but there is some solace in watching Raymond Burr report live from Tokyo as Gozirra lays waste to the miniature houses, buildings, boats and trains.....

airflamesred ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2011 at 4:41 PM

Raymond Burr - now there's a blast from the past. Rutger Hauer seemed to have fond memories of Bladerunner - and theres a man who has done some epic movies.

"half a stout" I'm norwegian but isn't that beer?

Paul Francis ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2011 at 5:04 PM

The most famous stout is Guinness, indeed a kind of beer.  Old ladies drink stout, or they used to!

Yes, its what guinness pretends to be.

On a serious poin,t my thoughts are with the Norwegians at present - I fear this may have implications around Europe

And ta-da....! Rutger Hauer used to advertise.....Guinness...full circle!  So next time someone asks you what Coronation Street and Bladerunner have in common, it's Guinness. Sort of!

Well I'm one quarter Norwegian. My great granddaddy was a sea captain.

Come to think of it, I might have seen this already. They were explaining that the city was all made out of card and only the nearest buildings were three dimensional.
