Hi,

As you can see I am having a slight problem wall papering this room! I have tried adjusting the size, auto fit, and offset all to no avail. (I am also using clamped) Could anyone suggest what settings I need to get this wallpaper to load to the right orientation? The room is uv mapped with each wall and the floor...thanks! H.

try rotating a copy of the image 90 degrees to the right[in your paint program] and using that instead

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Try this. Set the 'Texture_Coords' to VU, and place a minus sign in front of the 'V_Scale' value'.

This also works for a tiled image, see above.

Thanks for the advice guys but I haven't managed to get it to work yet! I have tried every possible combination I can think of. Assuming I do get it figured out how do I sell the room with the wallpaper without having the user have to figure it out too? I wonder if there is an easier way to do this...thanks...H.

A material collection or mat pose should set the wallpaper correctly. If its right when  the propis saved then it will load that way as well.

Setting the UV parameter to VU should have the right effect of rotating the map 90 degrees.  Ir may be easier to  adjust it in a paint program though.

Can you post a screen capture of the advanced settings in your Material Room, showing the nodes with the image opened up at the bottom of it?

Here is a screen shot of wall one. On this wall the settings work with UV as far as orientation (the other wall needs vu) In case you can't see the settings the closest approximation I could find to get the wallpaper to fit was:

.9 u scale .4 v scale and UV, tile

It is not an exact fit though and the border is too big, but is the closest I seem able to do! I can send you what the other wall looks like too...

Thanks for your help. H.

Ok here it is as big as the forum will allow! :-)

buddhanature28 ( ) posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 9:51 AM

or at least as sized as I can figure out how to make it from my screen that the post will accept... :-)

Resolution and size are terrible.  If you have PowerPoint, paste the image onto a page and resize.  Save it out as a jpeg for posting.

buddhanature28 ( ) posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 11:06 AM

Yeah I think its to do with my screen size...

I don't have power point...I tried copying it into gimp but not sure it will be any better. I will try to load now... H.

trying again...

buddhanature28 ( ) posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 11:09 AM

hmm I can''t seem to get it to save and scale at anything viewable or allowable in size here. Could it be because I am using a 32 inch screen or wouldn't that effect it? Thanks. H.

markschum ( ) posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 11:17 AM

can you go to the material room, and slect the wallpaper material , then click the button to save a material. Save a single material only. then rename it to a .txt file and post that file to the forum. ?

it will be much easier to examine the material file.

I hope this is what you meant let me know if it doesnt work...Thanks! H.

buddhanature28 ( ) posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 12:55 PM

when I tried to open it- it looked liked gibberish to me! Let me know if I did it wrong? I saved the material and then I clicked on the png file that was created when I saved as a material and renamed it as a text. Thanks. H.

Actually the image seems to be quite large (1024x768), but most of it is white, perhaps you used "resize canvas" instead of "scale image" or so?

It is wrong. You posted the png file instead of the mt5 file. The png is just a thumbnail image, we need the mt5 (or mtz) file.

By default Windows hides some file extensions, and this can cause confusion, if you can't see the file extensions, go to Windows Control Panel > Folder Options, in the View tab, deselect "Hide file extensions of known file types".

You're right- that's what I did! Thanks for helping. I think I got it this time...

ok, in that material file the option is still set yo UV and to turn the image 90 degrees it needs to be VU

here are two pics that show the difference, but you wont see the change in preview. Poser has limits on what its preview will manage.

and heres the VU setting

soory the pic is not clear, go back to lesbently post to see the part to change.

markschum ( ) posted Fri, 12 August 2011 at 8:17 PM

a utility you might look at is MWSNAP. That is a screen capture utility that creates a jpg image from any window or section of the screen you specify, it will grab the entire screen or any part of it. Its much easier than PrtScrn and paste in a paint program.

must have forgot to change that...thanks...I have got a much better image now by changing the settings to:

.2

.2

.12

vu

tile

But the problem now is it doesn't look like the tile is lined up exactly and the border looks off in close up. I will post a pic. If anyone can help my eyes are going funny after doing this for five days!

Thanks!

thanks. :-) Maybe I have been looking at it for too long! The good thing out of all this is I learned how to texture in Poser and Blender in five days!
