Seems to be no solution to the problem, so I reinstalled the original version of Poser 7 on the external drive and used that for an image with this particular character.

But I would love to know why the SR3 upgrade caused the problem!

And it gets stranger.

The figure renders black when I render the full scene. BUT, if I select "area render", the bits selected render correctly!

Could not duplicate this using Poser7sr3. The shader is very similar to V4RealismKit sold at Daz. But it appears to be slightly modified to work without mainlight control.Did you reload it from libraries onto a new V4 in a new scene? Rebooted?

Starting with a new file, loaded V4.2, loaded morph, then mat from libraries. Just to check, rebooted, then created a new scene just now and repeated process. When I looked at your post before you'd asked for screenshot of lips in material room, so here it is. NB Same process, rendered the picture, all black, then selected area, and area ok. I've just noticed that the all black image shows a tiny trace of lips.

How about just switching to Ray Trace in rendersettings and switching your light to Ray Trace as well? I'm running out of guesses. Have not used P7 in a long while. Somewhere your RGB and SSS ramp is set to zero. Or, you have a bug that I've never seen.

Then on a sidenote,, there are your prefs. I see .0016 on bumpsettings. Are you from Europe?

No joy, I'm afraid; nothing changed when I tried that.

I'm in Carlisle, England

If area render works and full render doesn't work, I'm tempted to say it has nothing to do with the material or the character. But what a very, very selective bug o_O

I have written that I cannot help you, but I'm not sure if I remember correct. I think I saw similar problem on mine or my friend Poser. It was not caused by node setting. It happend after SP3 installation or changed preview setting - openGL to sreed. It can be also caused by using hardware preview.

I'm sorry for ambigius advices, but if nobody can help, you have nothing to lose.
