THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce Problems,Problems,Problems

I had a problem with Bryce 7 recently that I finally got sorted out by reinstalling the program.  Unfortunately I wasn't paying close enough attention to what I was doing & uninstalled version 5.5 first & now I can't get it to install right. It was tellling me some file was missing, should have wrote it down because now it says  this file.. amberkrn.dll .. is missing instead.

Version 5  works as long as I don't have 5.5 installed. With both installed neither of them is working.  V5 will start to load with the 5.5 screen but using the wrong serial number & quits working as soon as the main screen opens.

I realize they're both old versions but I really did like the 5.5 that I got on cnet & I'd just discovered how to make a working prop (dresser) in it.

I hope this makes sense.

Try installing in different folders. Example C:Program Files/X86/Daz3d/Bryce 5 and C:Program Files/X86/ Bryce 5.5. Works for me.

Yea!! I got both v 5 & v5.5 to work..  I ended up letting it install Daz Studio 1 & it worked!! Of course I can't seem to find Daz 4 now, but since I don't use Studio, I guess that's not really a problem.

Thanks again..

You know? I found a great little windoze proggy that helps you find missing files. It's called 'Search'. You can find it in the START menu.

Well I almost don't use Daz Studio, but I discovered that I do need it, very rarely though.  I use it when I need to create a shot showing scale, and then I need to add a figure, that's what I mostly use DazStudio for when I'm Brycing.

Unfortunately the calibration between DazStudio's location and units, is not the same as Bryce's, so when you locate something at ground zero in the Bryce Universe - it isn't at ground zero in the DazStudio universe, this makes adjusting a figure's position in DazStudio, and adjusting it's location in the Bryce Universe, a total nightmare - as both Bryce and DS are now released by the same company, it's a crying shame they can't sort that out.

Glad to hear you got your Bryces sorted out - I'm wondering if you can re-install DazStudio 4 and tell it not to uninstall DS1 - or installing DS4 in a different directory- like you did with the Bryces - I think that's what I did, as going to DazStudio from inside Bryce5.5 I get DS 1 and going to a Daz Studio from my desktop icon there I get DS3 (I only had DS4 Beta installed and that's run out so I can't test DS 4 today, I need to redownload the crippled version)

I started with B5.5 on this PC and then installed B6 and B7 - if I have a crash and total meltdown I always (so far) install B5.5 first, when starting again.

I was just wondering - what about the Bryce5.5c update?

I have it on my PC but I can't now remember if I installed it, or if there's a way to find out - i.e. if you do have 5.5c installed would that show up when you go to Help from inside Bryce and click on About Bryce5.5?  Cos mine says Bryce5.5 - not Bryce5.5c - does anyone know?

Yes.. I tried the search function first. Either it doesn't work or the files I needed just werent't there. I've noticed it doesn't work if I use extensions (.zip, .jpg, .obj etc..) I'm using Vista & it does some strange stuff so that could be the problem with the search.

I had Daz 4 installed before I had all the problems & Bryce was working OK.  I've only played around with Daz & it seemed to be easier to use then Poser.  Then again, I'm not much of a Poser user either..

Rosie? If you're not gonna render 5million objects you'll be fine with just B7.

I think there was a patch for corel B5 that fixed some thing, can't remember what but if you're going to use B5 you may need it.

Cheers

i don t think b7 is moe heavy on processors than the other versions. my experience is quite the oppocite. scuse my norwenglish spelling.

I'm only using B 5.5 to make working parts on a model.   For some reason I can't see that little green dot in B7.  If it wasn't for that I wouldn't really need the other programs.
