What material is the camera body made from?  I cannot find the answer on the Canon USA site.  It is important for me to get a camera with a metal body and not a plastic one.

Can anyone tell me how much I will have to spend before I get a DSLR with a metal body?

Yeah it had/has a metal body. The new 60D is plastic and, although it has video, is less of a camera in my view. If you are prepared to pay more, the new 7D is metal also. If you can still find a 50D you should consider it. Good luck.
