got a soldering Iron?
if so, why not repair the one you have? it's not hard to do.
I had 4 (!) Samsungs - 3 17" 731b's and a 19" 931b all die due to bad caps. a little research led me to this place http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx they sold me the kits to replace the bad caps in each for $55 total. thats including shipping.
took me an hour a monitor, (I wasn't rushing) and all 4 monitors are now operating perfectly.
the hardest part was getting the monitors open. but there's a tutorial on how to do that on the site.
(I should say. repair and get a new one. Go Dual!)
I've had good luck with Acer monitors. Currently running two 22" and two 27". Reasonable price and no issues after several years of constant use.

I am typing this on a TV that I use as monitor.
A 42" Medion, and my back up is a 32" Medion TV.
Both run at 1920x1080 and by the dear Lord I am looking for a 50" one.
Got this 42" for 500 euro, and the 32" for 299 euro;
The advantage is HUGE, (but you need the room)
Sit back at a distance, and a lot less fatigue for the eyes.

Yeah, I'll eventually have to mount a 40" HDMI unit and push the desk back from the wall, as well. Another issue with the LED monitors are that they are =bright=. As in my current monitor is dialed down to about 40% brightness, when every CRT and tube LCD I've ever had has been no less than 90%, and usually maxed. Your eyes -will- fall out if you don't back the brightness down and work up to a comfortable level.
Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I've got to make a decision fast, this one is getting worse every day, lol.
I'm worried about distortion on a 27 inch monitor with 1920x1080, any one know about the distortion factor in a larger monitor with a smaller resolution? They seem to be making these things like TVs rather than monitors, lol.
I have a Hannes HH241, 1080p 24" that I'm very pleased with...
Therer shouldn't be any distortion in a larger size, as the bigger ones have the same aspect ratio and usually still have the same number of Pixels

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."My thing with monitors is I hate glare. At work I had to position my old CRT monitors so the florescent lights were not shining on the screen. In fact in Apple manuals back then Apple made the comment that screen glare could strain your eyes. Which is ironic because a few years back Apple's monitors pretty much all became GLOSSY!
I hate GLOSSY monitors! (i mean the glass) When I went to Best Buy a couple years ago, shopping for a monitor I saw in the reflection of the monitor a kid behind me shoplifting! Ok, not really but you get the idea.
(Gets off soapbox.)
Well, it's done.. finally, I am horrible a doing stuff like this, I just keep looking and reading and usually take forever to decide and then I keep second guessing what I finally do get, rofl... but anyway, it had to be done, sooner rather than later in this case. It took over 5 minutes for my screen to stop flickering this morning :/
I would have really liked one of the higher end models, but alas, the buget wouldn't allow it, and this is just a hobby, so I couldn't justify the higer price, lol. I've never used a monitor with the 1200 high screen, thank goodness, so I wont miss it, lol. It does have a little bit higher resolution..my old one has 1680 x 1050, the new one is 1920 x 1080.
If you're curious I ended up with a ViewSonic VX2753mh-LED. Not the best, but from what I read a good one, and it has good contrast and resolution, antiglare glass. So now, I'm just waiting on delivery, lol.
Thanks for all the input and advice.
Quote - Try this one.
It's a 22.5" LCD monitor.
I've no idea what makes it worth $11,875.00.
LOL, I meant to comment on this earlier, but my head was filled with trying to decide, lol. I really think that one may be a just a little bit more than I need or the budget will allow, rofl
I dont know what makes that monitor worth that price, unless it really does have a "make art" button, roflmbo ;)

:) Looks like my old Samsung monitor is about to give up the ghost, from the research I've done I'd say...bad "caps". Any way, I'd like some suggestions & opinions on a new one. The one I have is a 22 inch, I'd like to go a little bigger..24-25.
I'm running XP pro 32, but I'll soon be getting a new computer running Windows 7 pro 64 bit, so it'll have to run on both.
I can spend about $400.00's. I'd like to know which is best for good color. I have to say I looked at a 27" Samsung today that was within my price range, I'm just not sure I need that much monitor.
Anyway, I'd love to hear from people who have monitors that are great for graphic work, I mostly play in Poser and PS.
Thanks
*yes, I did post in the Hardware section, but that place is a ghost town, I was hoping to get a little response over here, lol. Sorry if I'm out of line.
