Hi

I am having an issue with an animation I am trying to do. The figure is set to 0 y translation. Yet her feet are below the floor and as you can see (hopefully) they go right through her shadow! I haven't decided if I want her to cast a shadow or not so don't know if I want to fix the problem by trying to eliminate it or not (which I was unsuccessful at so far!) I could just raise the figure up above ground but that would be a pain going through all the keyframes to reset the y translation. Is this my only option?

thanks! Heather

Lower the ground.

This will give you accurate shadows without having to move the figure.

Or do I misunderstand what you are trying to achieve?

Biull, Thanks for the advice. It was useful although it didn't quite do what I wanted it helped me to fiugure out what I did want! When it "dropped" figure to floor it seemed to have replaced the feet which messed up the animation. However I was able to use the translations it used to then go to the body and set the first frame at that y translation and now it seems to have taken care of the problem without messing up the entire animation.

And Winvdb, thanks, I thought of that, but I could see an x, y, z translation for the ground!?

appreciate the advice...Heather

Sorry, forgot about that. It is tied to the Ground Shadows feature.

If you disable the ground (make it invisible or switch it off in the menu (Display/Guides/GroundPlane), you can add a square which acts as ground and shadow capture plane. Switch off Ground Shadows as well in the Display Meny,

You can resize and translate the prop to fit the animation

But if the python script works or your animation, that is also a good solution
