Here is my second image. My eldest son is 2.1 meters tall and here he is looking way up to a baby giraffe! He certainly has met his match!

Another "scaly" image. You have to look hard but there are two men hanging on that wall: a guy in a green shirt (easy to find) abseiling down and a guy in a black shirt (much harder to locate) climbing up, hanging by his hands. And if you look very closely to the top of the photo you see by their legs that there are people standing on the bridge looking down.

I was allowed 3 images, right?

It looks like the parents have abandoned their child completely in the midst of this Venetian stronghold. In fact they are in the trenches (or what're-they-called) on the right. Just after I took this shot they surfaced again.

And now I realise I chose three images from three different countries :-D

@Leonie    I love your interpretation using space, such a vast and amazing thing, beautiful contribution
@Mies    A beautiful autumn walk, great shot :)
@Maria    I love this candid capture, I would like to see the picture your brother took here :) Beautiful texture shot
@Carin    Your son makes this fence look small, I bet it goes much higher on most people haha great perspective and a BEAUTIFUL giraffe :)
@Yvonne   Wow all three shots are amazing, great captures from around the world :) I LOVE the contrasting textures of the rocks, bridge, and trees in your second shot. I didnt see the people until you pointed them out haha and I am glad the parents were around for the third! :)

Today I have the day off, and my husband is at work, so I am going to try and get at least one shot for this challenge! Great work everyone :)

Emmecielle perfect capture for the challenge. The small arnamant to your right is so minute compared to the others. Nice shadows and reflections visible as well.

How beautiful is that, Maria.

Also fantastic shadow-play on it ♥

emmecielle ( ) posted Sun, 16 October 2011 at 12:24 PM

Thanks to all for the compliments! :-)

I wanted to include another photo of Matryoshka with a better perspective, but I preferred to post this, even though the dolls seem to be many soldiers in a row, because the reflections in the stand and shadows on the wall are the best! :-)

This is called a "fossil plant" but they have no fossils for sale...actually it is a coal fired electricity plant, coal being the fossil.

Scale has changed.  Eight smokestacks to the right, old polluters and now relics unused, then larger ones, much much larger two stacks and with those and the generators it did more output than with the 8 smaller ones.  Now,  smaller again but still huge..to the left is a "scrubber", cleaning all the bad stuff from the smoke and all going into the air is steam.

To stand near the plant makes a person feel very, very small.  This was shot from a moving vehicle some distance away.

The plant is offline for the time while cleanup of spilt ash residue is being done. A defective storage area broke loose a while back, flooding a large area with ash.

Oh wow Tom - that is indeed a huge difference. Thank you for sharing the image as well as the very interesting facts!

Not quite the same scale as Andrew's '*Angels-Demons. Parade',* but it does give an idea of the size of these gorillas adorning Bristol.

It is wonderful to see all the submissions!  I have too many to choose from, for a change!

How perfect! Thank you for joining the fun Clive. This is certainly giving perfect scale - the lady looks tiny against Mr Green!

Hi There! I am so impressed of what I have seen here. I dont really have scales in that way,  but then iI will try something else. What is this?

kgb224 ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2011 at 12:39 PM

It looks small enough for this challenge od scale.

The shadow looks bigger then the object.

Wonderful upload for this challenge Helanker.

Andrea stopped the car for me to get out and get a pic of this beach chair at a roundabout in Bournemouth. The first shot gave no sense of scale - just looked like a normal one.  I took the second shot, including the car behind and the road signs to give a visual clue about the size.

Perfect for the challenge!

Neat one, Clive.  This is a fine example of why a photo sometimes does not convey the sense of distance, scale, and elevation we know it is there.A photo does not have the senses and full landscape we have and something for comparison is needed in the image.
