If you are having any kind of hiccup, glitch or problem

please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please

file a bug report with Smith-Micro.

The sooner they see a pattern, the sooner we can get a Service Release or patch for what ails us....

Thank you all kindly :)

PLease consider that not every issue  is an actual reportable problem with the release
but merely a lack of understanding by the user
which can be solved here in the forums by more knowledgable users.

wolf,

Ever wonder why certain parts are hard to use and we explain the correction to the same "stupid" mistake a thousand times?

Yep - SM doesn't know.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Here's a true example:

I am having problems stopping a simple animation. I go to frame 30, move Andy2 a bit, and play. Andy2 moves the 30 frames and the animation loops, but I cannot stop it.

PP2K12 freezes. None of the buttons work, either in the animation pallete, the menu bar, parameter dials, zippo!

I contacted SM directly. I gave as much info as I could (used to do tech support).

Another user posted here at Rendo of the same problem. I asked a question that was asked of me.

We both use the Wacom Graphire.

Is it the Wacom drivers? Is there something buggered in Poser? Could be something that leads to something else...

If we report it, then a pattern can emerge and it can be fixed.

Not every quirk is a bug.

Should I have wasted my own and SM's time asking them why the ground plane no longer rendered transparent and reported it as a bug?

Or would it have been better to have searched here, found the threads that someone else wisely started, and found that it's just a change in default behavior?

I think the latter, myself. But, yeah, maybe there are a lot of people at SM who are feeling lonely and need some bug reporting love... :P

I think they don't realize the impact they had by changing the default. I think they don't realize the impact they had by changing the default lights, either, but that one was a positive impact. How many times do we have to tell people with ugly orange renders "don't use the default lights" anymore? Never.

Obviously there are things which are broken but not reported often enough.

Saving render preferences don't seem to save the IDL settings in the normal render settings window. Not a problem if you use D3D's settings, but I assume there are some normal users which not even know about that thing. It did not save these in Poser 8 either.

This is not much of a problem for me  since I use python scripts for starting a render, but I thought they would have been fixed by now. Or is this a problem with my installation?

I don't know what you're talking about. Every render setting I change in the standard render settings and save as a preset comes back when I recall the presets.

Are you talking about the hidden settings that only appear in the D3D dialog? Or ???

My mistake. Argh. Sorry, forget my last posting.

As I wrote earlier, I start all my renders by a script (via D3D's XA buttons) to record render settings and time needed. I had a bug in my script, there was a line which changed the GI settings. This line is only in the "Render without changing settings" file, and made me think that the dialog was broken....

I noticed while rendering, and never checked it without rendering as it seems. Just when I wanted to post sceen shots I tried it without rendering and found the error.

Everything fine, just my crappy coding....

If you're both using Wacom Graphire tablets and no one else is reporting issues, I'd say it has to do with the Wacom graphire tablet and it's drivers.

Before you go filing a bug report, maybe you should do a little diagnositics on your own.  Disconnect the tablet and uninstall the Wacom drivers.

Create the animation the same way without any additional hardware or drivers.  If everything works as it should, then you know where the problem lies and that you need to file with Wacom and not SMS as it would be Wacom's issue not SMS's.

How would we know if no one else is reporting issues. Folks using Bamboo or using Cintiq may be fine.

If the animations system wasnt tweaked, why does Poser 7 and Poser Pro 2010 animation controls work fine but PP2012 doesnt. All of the other rooms are fine in Poser Pro 2012 with the Wacom, why is the animation portion bugged?

File a bug report folks. If you can check it out yourself, great. Help your fellow Poser users.

You are not "wasting" anyone's time reporting problems. That is what customer service is for. It is their job. If no one reports problems, how will they know what is a customer's problem, and what is Smith Micro's problem? Smith Micro's customer service is excellent, by the way.
