I've tried a variety of techniques, but nothing provides good line artwork. Some are fine for personal use, but I haven't found anything that produces acceptable professional results.

funilly enought I did this accidentally the other day.  I had a white tube shaped "paper roll" sort of around the camera accidentally.  And when I rendered I got line art.

I ditched the scene though and don't know how exactly I did it.

well I  know that really isn't any help to you.

Have you played around with document style?  It's in display menu which at the top of  poser.  At the  bottom of this menu is another setting for cartoon settings.  And you can render this preview image.

I made a Photoshop action for making stuff into Lineart ages ago. I haven't tried it recently, I think it was made in the Photoshop 5 days - but you're welcome to try it out and see if it's of any use. You can download it HERE

In poser you can use the toon outline option in materials, You get a line between any material that has a different id number, so you can control what lines you get.

I used to make line art and unfortunately I haven't found any quick way to make traditional lineart from photos or from poser.

The only method that i know of is this:

1. lighten the photo

2. create a new layer

3. use the pen tool to trace the outlines that you want to trace. 

It's a very simple method but it works.

Ink9000 is interesting, but it probably doesn't do the kind of thing you want - plus it works on .obj files, not image - still, for reference:

Other than that, maybe search for "raster to vector"  maybe that might yield better results than a PhotoShop approach. I would think that the simpler the image in terms of colors, etc. the better the result with any automatic method. FightingWolf's method may be the best way and using a vector art program like Illustrator might make that easier - just guessing though :-)

Unfortunately there isn't a "push one button" fix for this type of thing

The pen tool method using layers and stroke paths is what many anime artist use for converting sketches to digital versions.  This is person that is using the method and it will give you an idea of how well it works

Art materials toon shaders from Runtimedna. Set all colours to white. Monotone or duotone simple shader, tweak the line width to your satisfaction.
