Subject: Vue 9 Studio Problem When Opening Scene

mathman ( ) posted Tue, 11 October 2011 at 6:45 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 6:21 AM

In Vue 9 Studio, when I open the Open dialog, and go to the Samples 1 folder, none of the thumbnails are displayed. However, when I click the browse button, the scene files are actually there. So, why are the thumbnails not being displayed?

(Note: When I go to some of the other folders (eg Elements), the thumbnails ARE displayed. This is inconsistent)

Does the Samples 1 folder have a scene.prv file in it?  Mine is 436KB, with a date of May 10th, 2011.

Did you install your Vue over an older version or over a trial version?

Yes it has scene.prv in it. Dated 10th April 2010 with a size of 372kb. What about it ?

I sidegraded from Vue 8 Esprit to Vue 9 Studio. All of the data files are in different folders under documents/e-on software - those folders are called Vue 8 and Vue 9 respectively.

I did a test right now and copied the Samples 1 folder from my Content Extras over my existing Samples 1 folder on my C: drive.  All scene files are there and so are their thumbnails.

Good for you. I did the same, and no thumbnails.

Another trick is to create a folder and copy the scene files to it and then start Vue and, when opening a Vue file, click that New Collection icon at the bottom of the Collections box and then browse for the folder you just created.

You don't have an collection folders locked by the way, do you?   Either through Vue or via some crazed Symantec tool kit?  That would be bad.

I tried that trick but it didn't work. As far as locking the collection folder, I don't even know how to do that. Also, I don't have any Symantec software on my computer.

Could be a bad/corrupted Installer or Extras Content download.  But that is so rare and would be a last resort.  I feel something else still (that we don't know about) is causing the problem.

Well, I've raised a support ticket with e-on, so will wait for what they have to say. Thanks for your help anyway.
