wow! I bet the digital camera is the least of you worries. You probably need max or something.

I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Well you can export as a obj, I have Zbrush so its all good. I am actually going to try this out. But instead of taking individual photos, I am going to do a HD video recording and that way I have alot more flexability in what frames I want to use:)
that's clever.
I didn't check but being autodesk I presume when you buy the software that it is horribly expensive?
I have a mac anyway, but my husband has a PC so I could get it if it worked well.

**"using the power of cloud computing" **
So this is Not a stand alone application
they take your photos (30-40 required)
that you upload to their servers
they create this ultra triangulated model for you
and you download it
Hopefully your internet service does not go down
you can create a rudimentery rotating animation of this textured "model" that looks just like the Chair from your dining room and post it on you tube.....AWESOME!!!!
but why not just use the Video recorder in your smart phone and shoot an actual video of the chair etc and upload that to youtube instead??
I am not seeing the usefulness of this set up service.
Cheers
Well, you can use your model in your artwork, take it into zbrush ,Max, Maya and animated the mesh, morph it etc. There are usefullness. Bottom line is its a mesh, and if you can find a useful way to incorporate it in your animation or artwork then I see the usefulness:)D Drag it into poser and have v4 or m4 walking in your house:)
I hope it does work well. It sounds very useful to me.

Check THIS out There are ways of using it for full body scanns too on the forums.
wow, now if there was a one click python script for putting weight mapped rigging into the model - well!

That looks WAAAY more useful than depending on some web service to produce your models.
Cheers

the price:(
Ya 399. But they have instructions there on the forums and you can build your own for pretty cheap, the software is free.
I was thinking about using something like this for a form to work from in 3Dcoat. If you had a scanned person to work from then use the retopology tools in 3DCoat all the proportions should be pretty accurate. Just an idea.
I would think that for body scans the free version od david should be good enough. All you need is some kind of corner, a line laser and a webcam. Should not be that much of a problems, I tried it with a cheap line laser from the toolshop and got good results.
