Subject: Wind Blowing Hair

flibbits ( ) posted Sun, 25 December 2011 at 10:17 PM · edited Wed, 01 January 2025 at 4:42 AM

I have a character with Duke Hair conformed to him.  What methods can be used to make the hair look as if it is blowing?

There are tutorials about using wind force, but I don't think those will work with this hair.

On some hairs I can use magnets to make it appear to be blowing, but with this one the whole thing moves like a helmet.

With Duke Hair, you might be a bit stuck. AlphaseeD have a new hair out (Desir) that makes it really easy to get that wind-blown look.

Hmmm, putting long girlish hair on a guy isn't much of a solution.

Look at Akaste hair here.  Lots of nice wind morphs and it looks equally good on the kids, women and men.

Well, we have a slug. No, it doesn't talk, but then, it's not pining for the fjords, either.

Well, it's scarcely a replacement, then is it?

Akaste may not be a bad fit.

I tried turning the duke hair upside down to make it look like it's blowing up, but that's not very good.

You can try to use magnets to get the desired effect.

Best regards,

Bopper.

Magnets don't work with Duke hair.  It moves like a helmet, all in one piece.

there's a dial to take that long fringe at the front away and make it look very similar to duke hair.

Love esther

i like dudes with long girlie hair.   There was a lot of long hair in the LOTR movies.

you could add dynamic hair strands to the hair prop, and the let the strands float in the wind

Esther, that's a decent looking hair.

"you could add dynamic hair strands to the hair prop, and the let the strands float in the wind  sther, that's a good one."

I'm going to try that.

Thanks, Eric - I was sort-of wondering. I'm a bit weird, actually. Only a wee bit, though. 😄 The Monty Python bit is the least weird bit.

When I think of fjords, I think of Slartybartfast!

"Well, it's scarcely a replacement, then is it?"  is the next line after "Well, we have a slug. No, it doesn't talk, but then, it's not pining for the fjords, either".
