Subject: Is anyone else having these kind of issues with Poser 2012?

I'm just about to rip my hair out. It doesnt adhere window size for files built in 7 but instead moves the camera to fit the scene into the default window. I cant change the background colour or the colour of the lights — touch anything and it goes black and ignores the colour palatte. I cant access any body parts not immediately visible. The new render engine seems to have the harshness factor zoomed up by 20%. And it has this really annoying tendency to go full screen if I move my window document into some kind of weird blue area. And this is just after working with it for a couple of days.

I installed the service release, but that doesnt seem to have helped. Is there a preference or a setting I'm missing here? I"m about ready to go back to 7 after this.

Under which OP is PP2012 installed and where does it reside?

Online Now!

Sounds like you are having a problem with your video driver (along with others)

Try changing to screed (right click in document window and select).

If that works you should see if it works in openGL without hardware acceleration.

On the window changing size, change it to floating and disable drag dropping.

That would be my first assessment, however it would be nice to have a little more information about PP2012's home environment. The question I neglected to ask: is P7 located in the same place?

Mac 10.6. Yes, P7 is still on this machine. I'll try the other things as well: thanks, guys.

Video driver shouldnt be a problem: it's a brand new MacBook Pro.

Doesn't mean the driver is new. We've had folks get new machines and the next day a driver came out for their display cards (which, as it turned out, used drivers from months before). So while the machine may be a new purchase the software on it may be dated.

Well, an update, of sorts.

The window issue seems to be resolved; many thanks on that. The colour picker for the lights is doing more odd things than I thought: it's almost like the entire spectral chart — on both sides — has been reduced to a giant grey scale. The lights go black when I'm on the left side, but they go progressively lighter (albeit in grey tones) as I move left. But if I use the thing in the upper right, that takes you to various colour methods, then it works. And I was able to cut down the harshness by unclicking displacement maps in the Firefly settings.

:: sigh :: New software. such a pain in the beginning. Usually so worth it once you figure it out. :-)

I've had one major problem since installing the New SR from SM for P2012. When I did the update, somehow, my computer (MacMini Core2Duo) started freaking out. Tried to quit PP2012, but the program wouldn't shut down. My sound has also cut out on me and even zapping the pram hasn't brought it back.

So right now I can't even run PP2012.

I did notice that the performance slowed down considerably after SR1.
