Subject: Anime Inspired Demo of Extra Long Dynamic Hair

Attached Link: Anime Inspired Extra Long Dynamic Hair Demo

Hey guys,

I have been trying to develop a good set of extra long dynamic hair in Carrara, and fine tune my knowledge of the settings and options.  I am close to being done with the hair. I am thinking I will give it away as a freebie. Its really not complicated, but I am particularly interested in animating with dynamic hair, so I have put special thought into designing it to drape well in various poses and work well in simulations.

I recently was working on an anime-inspired image showcasing the hair, and although I'm not sure this is the best I can do, I think this turned out really well. Please let me know what you think, and if you are interested in me releasing the hair.

Its looking good. To animate this hair you will need to use proxy figures to more faster collision detection.

It does look very impressive. I'm very interested to know the simulation tuimes and  hair counts you've been using. And it would also be very interesting to learn what optimizations techniques you have come up with.

So far I've only been using dynamic hair as fur and as hairdos which I could shape by hand using the tools such as brush, length, curl and clump (without draping or simulating), and since I've used it in still images, it has worked OK for my purposes. But I would love to learn more about setting up proper simulations and using it as real dynamic hair.

I look forward to the progress of your project and hope you'll post more details about it. Great work so far.

Thanks for your feedback!

Actually, I learned from some of the good people at the DAZ forums about using proxy figures to improve simulation.  Actually its more than a speed improvement.  In Carrara, it is a necessity, because with out a simplified proxy, the hair absolutely will not simulate correctly.  It suffers from a jumping/jittering problem if allowed to collide with a complex figure.

Antaran, I'll try to get a good post on my website describing my results.
