I am trying to make a displacement map point in a specific direction.  By using an N node plugged into a blender I was able to get the displacement to only affect the top of the ball, but how would I get it to point upward as well?

You can't.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

hah, simple enough.  Thanks, I would have been messing with it for hours.
