Subject: Possible Bug?

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Thu, 16 February 2012 at 11:48 PM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 5:05 AM

Sometimes when I click on the cancel button for a render, Poser 9 locks up and will not pull out of it with out the use of Task Manager.

Is this a known bug? If it is not where can I report it?

Tom

Heavy scenes will take some time to pull out of rendering. Are you being patient enough?

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Fri, 17 February 2012 at 12:04 AM

When task manager shows zero change in the core load for more than a minute I assume it is locked up.
The amount of processor used in bits should be fluctuating as long as the scene is trying to deal with canceling.
Might just be a windows thing.

Tom: Go into General Preferences and make sure Render to Separate Process is checked. That should clear it up.

I did that just now. Thanks. We shall see if the issue continues.

What is the purpose of that tick box?

It happens in MacOS as well.

It makes Firefly run as if it was a separate program. If Firefly crashes, Poser won't, or at least that's the idea..lol. I just know that when I got Poser 7 I couldn't even use it until I ticked that box. Then it was great ;)

Thank you Laurie for taking the time to explain it to me. :-)

That helps me a lot to know why it is, what it is...

They should re-label that button: "Check Here If You Want Poser To Render Faster And Crash Less. Leave Unchecked If You Like Interminable Renders And Occasional Lockups."
