Subject: Vue 10 configuration for Poser Import

jarm ( ) posted Mon, 27 February 2012 at 1:59 PM · edited Mon, 17 February 2025 at 4:59 AM

OK, I've been lurking with Vue for a few years since I stopped using it grealty, I've bought the upgrades etc.  I have just got version 10.

Problem is with importing Poser content, no matter what I import Vue just crawls to an unusable state, it's not a RAM issue as Vue tends to top out around 6gb and I've got 16gb in the machine.

It looks like it's when it's drawing the previews as Inever get beyond one 'pane' being visible, this has been an issue for myself (presumably not others) for around 2 versions of Vue.

I wasn wondering if anybody had any suggestions for optimal configuraiton of Vue for Poser importing or any general tips, I'm fiddling with the 'display options' panel at the moment, but it's a bit of a shot in the dark.

Appreciate any assistance.  machine spec is:-

1gb GTX 460 graphics card

6 core AMD 3ghz processor

16gb of RAM

best wishes

Jody

A naked V3 with no hair does the same thing for you?  Are you importing a PZ3 file?  Which SDK are you choosing and which version of Poser are you importing from?  What are your Poser Import settings?

How long are you waiting for an import to finish and you then regain control of Vue?  Five minutes?  Ten minutes?  Forever (having to end task for Vue to get back to normal)?

And which OpenGL setting are you using for Vue's display?

What are SDK serttings and how do you know which one to use?

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Wed, 29 February 2012 at 3:05 PM

Poser SDKs:

February 2010 -- Poser 6

March 2010 -- Poser 7

May 2010 -- Poser 8

August 2011 -- Poser 9

E-on didn't bother to rename their filenames.  Force-feeding an SDK you don't have into E-on can sometimes work, depending on which version of Poser the PZ3 was created for.

What's the SDK for Poser PRo 2012?

The Poser 9 one.  And you need 64-bit OS, Vue, and Poser.  Unless SmithMicro updated Poser recently?  Then all bets are off.

I think I crakced it last night.

It seems to be video card related, or at least, screen drawing.  If I turn backgroudn drwaing off, and limit polygon count ot 500000 in the settings, it seems to behave it self a lot more.

But thank you for the input guys/girls, very nice to get feedback.

Always turn off background drawing in Vue.  Even if you have the best computer on Earth.  I wonder if Jonj1611 has background drawing turned on which mght be causing crashes on a new system?
