Subject: Ostrich Thigh Wont Bend :(

Hi..

I am having a problem with the Ostrich character from DAZ..

when I used it in Poser 8 some time ago it was fine with no probs. I have

recently been trying to play with it in PoserPro 12 and  the Left thigh wont bend any more....

when I turn the Left Thigh  "bend" parameter dial

the thigh does not move but the left shin does and obviously warps out of shape....any ideas

to how I can fix this please?

I have tried with kinematics on and off and limits on and off no change.

What I can think off of the top of my head would be, that perhaps the actor is locked?

To verify this, you'd chose the thigh and go to Object -> Lock Actor and see if it's perhaps checked.

Another thing could that the Settings for this actor are wrong.

Select the thigh and click on the triangle/arrow thingy to the right of the dials value digit. A little context menu should appear, where you chose "Settings" from. You then get to see a few Parameter settings. Maybe the min/max limits as well as the Sensitivity are in need to be taken care of.

If it's something differently than that, well .. I can't help more, lol.

Thanks,

I've looked and "actor" is not locked for thigh or any other

part of the character.

Everything else appears okay, in as much as I can tell :)

Click on the leg and see if "Use Inverse Kinematics" is checked... if so... try unchecking that.

Have you made sure that "Bend" is enabled for the thigh? With the thigh selected, go to "Object->Properties" and make sure there is a checkmark next to "Bend".

Thanks.....In properties the "bend" for the  thigh was actually enabled,

so I tried disabling it and that worked, seems to be okay now.

Very strange... the other thigh is enabled and works okay and even works okay disabled.

Oh well at least it works now...I'll probably put it away  and forget about it

for another 5 years or so.  :)

Yes I have an idea. The symptoms you describe are most likely caused by Inverse Kinematics being turned on for that leg. Suggest you turn IK off, and turn 'bend' back on.

Not this time....IK was the first thing I checked

Did you try reloading the figure from the library? the original figure, not one you saved to the library or scene at one point.
