I would create a M4 texture to fit V4 with TC2, then just apply the texture to the material zones I wanted. Assuming you have TC2.
Thank you, I was hoping for a solution without TC2. I was trying to make V4 accept the Amducias (Anthro horse char for M4) head and neck texture while using my vast library of V4 body textures. But I think I will end up painting my own head and neck textures (horse fur should not be too complicated).

I know that it is possible to make V4 accept M4 textures and vice versa (with uvmapper classic). Is it possible to achieve the same effect for individual body parts?
For example, create a V4 that accepts M4 texture for head and neck and leave the rest of the mapping unchanged?
