Subject: how do I export V4 as obj to include its textures and hair prop from PoserPro 20

I know how to export v4 as an obj but don't know how to include the textures with it

any small tutorial on it would be great so I can follow.

When Poser exports out an OBJ file it will also create a MTL file to go with it. This will include some material and texture information. Note however that whilst the texture files are named, their paths are not which can result in some 3D applications not being able to find them. To help over come this, suggest placing a copy of the textures in the same folder as the OBJ and MTL file.

Thanks Phil

I thought I might have to do this, when I read the .MTL file it is as you said, I was hoping it exported textures also but its fine as long as I know what textures to include, and the .MTL file says that.

I have another question when exporting the obj I should be able to export a hair prop parented to V4 and then include the textures later is that correct?

Yes, as part of the export dialog you'll be able to pick which actors in the scene you wish to include.

Here's a cheap trick: First export to collada. Then export to obj in the same folder. Your textures will be right there. I have never been able to get collada to work right, but the texture export is a neat feature.

Poser 11 Pro, Windows 10

Auxiliary Apps: Blender 2.79, Vue Complete 2016, Genetica 4 Pro, Gliftex 11 Pro, CorelDraw Suite X6, Comic Life 2, Project Dogwaffle Howler 8, Stitch Witch

or you could be wildly daring and use the collectsceneinventory script which does the same thing and allows you to save all the textures to a folder after which just export the objects

FrankT

where is the collectsceneinventory script sounds interesting, and usfull

I also like export collada and then obj idea, its just two process's but easyer than moving textures manually.
