Just saw this from Galung. He's been doing some fastastic work with Lux. Thought you guys might enjoy this. It's got a bit of postwork, but I'm still drooling that it was born from a render

His gallery on Rendo here is worth a gander. Most is from Studio, but a few are Vue-related.

I have been absent the past few weeks cuz of a very sad reason. If you read the comment I posted with this image on DA you know why.

Slowly trying to pick things up though.

Quote - No Boobs-'n-Bums in this one, just a (very boring) technical test to see what a specific kind of complex geometry would look like rendered in Lux.

Not perfect, but not too bad either actually, even without any smoothing.

For those somewhat technically inclined: it's polygon and conventional rifling on the inside of a (cut-away) gun barrel.

Modeled in Autodesk Inventor in 15 minutes or so.

Too small to see any significant detail here, there's a larger one in my gallery.

Cheers!

I swear this looks better than the stuff in real life!

Timezone difference, gotta sleep every now and then:)

Seriously, this release was done without pre-releasing the SDK to developer so there was no time to prepare new builds of plugins to be timed with the release of 4.5. So, I need to setuo the build environment for the new SDK, for both Mac OS and Windows, build four different versions of Reality and send them to the testers. Gotta test Reality before releasing it!

Cheers

You could of course save yourself AND your testers a LOT of time by skipping version 2.x altogether, and instead do 3.0

Wink-wink, nudge-nudge ; )

That would mean D|S 4.5 users would have to go a few months "detached" from Reality, and we couldn't have that now could we?
Paolo has become the ultimate psychotherapist...keeping people "grounded in Reality" one render at a time hehehe ;-)

No-no, no-no, I meant skip 2.x, and do 3.0 instead, NOW!

Is that such an unrealistic suggestion? : D

I posted the close up of my zombie hunter a few days ago, but the scene gave me a few problems.  And now that it's done I really don't even like it much. But here it is.  I'm working on a new image with this character that should be more intersting.

Who does a person have to bribe to get in on this mysterious testing process?  Have been beta testing various things from the earliest builds of photoshop to world of warcraft expansions pretty much since the day I first dialed up the internet.  Even beta tested the first versions of yahoo messenger and ICQ before they ever saw the light of day.

The testing procedure went well and after a bit of electrical work and an accident which meant the pool had to be drained again, the girls can relax.

Sounds like there are still issues with 4.5 like morphs not showing ect.. After finding out shoes still dont work and I am willing to be that autofit prolly works like using the utility transfer tool I am in no hurry dont know if I will even bother..

If I remember correctly (hard to say for certain since I was not a reality user then) but did it not take a while for Reality to be compatible with studio 4 in the 1st place?

That was due to it being a new product. In this case it is a rebuild against a new SDK, not a complete new product.

Latest stab at a new texture/shape for hongyu's bikini.  Went back to my favorite Dublin texture this time.  Hard to fit the bikini snugly on the character w/o having the mesh intersection issue with luxrender so the top looks a bit baggy.

It's a very interesting scene, love the colors and the amount of destruction. The zombies in the back scare the hell out of me, especially the little girl, but the big zombie flying at her from the left and her expression are priceless, great job!

Thanks I LOVE the results I get with Lux and due to being a luxer I dont have to stress out about changing from 4.37 for what?  gain some speed big woop! Shoes are still gimped and I am sure using the auto fit with the utility transfer tool prolly works the same...

Heads up for those planning to gleefully ugrade on Monday some folks are claming that old saved genesis scenes will load like this. I cant believe we are back to this crap again.  I had problems with distorted clothes for the longes time. As a matter of fact some clothes will still load like that if I use the autofit tool vs the transfer utility...

bobvan ( ) posted Sat, 18 August 2012 at 2:06 PM

Question for Paolo. If I stay with 4.37 do I need to update to 2.5 and if I do will it affect anyting in 4.37?  I guess it prolly would not but figure ask to be on the safe side..
